Tonight marks the very last episode of Lopez Tonight
, as TBS has decided not to renew the nighttime talk show for a third season. “Hey, did you guys see the news? Unemployment is at an all-time high,” host George Lopez quipped in last night’s opening monologue
. “And for Latinos is just got higher!” One of the show’s very last musical guests wound up being Ellie Goulding. Head below to watch her perform “Lights”
ahead of her gig at The Wiltern in Los Angeles this evening.

A very well-dressed Joe Jonas (is there really
any other kind
?) hit up Lopez Tonight
on the five-year anniversary of the very first Jonas Brothers album’s release date, and regaled nighttime host George Lopez with tales of fending off angry senior citizens in his early mall-tour days, keeping it gangsta in babysitting school (his back-up plan if the music thing hadn’t worked out) and having kung fu throwdowns in the parking lot of Pinkberry. And then
he broke a board Lopez was holding with his bare hand. The action happens below!
Curious about “Wet”
singer Nicole Scherzinger’s worst ever run-in with a fan? “I was in Paris, and had to work it out, so I was getting a bikini wax,” she told George Lopez last night. “The girl’s like doing her thing down there… and she’s like, ‘I love you so much’.” But that’s not the only awkward experience the “Right There”
diva has been witness to — she also discussed working on a daily basis
with Simon Cowell and Paul Abdul on the upcoming American version of The X Factor
. Hear what Nic had to say below.
Future L.A. marathon runner
David Cook kept the promo up for his just-released LP This Loud Morning
by appearing on Lopez Tonight
, where the American Idol
alum belted out his current single “The Last Goodbye.”
It was a pretty standard performance for Cookie, and we mean that in the best possible way — he seems more confident now with his fine-tuned act than ever. And he sure does clean up nice in a suit and tie
. Watch below.
her way through SXSW
earlier this year, Eliza Doolittle has finally skated onto the America’s television airwaves last night. The stylish
Brit was all dolled up (in yet another outfit
we’d like to steal from her closet) for her appearance on Lopez Tonight
to promote her debut self-titled album
. While the “Runaway”
alerted her fans to tune in yesterday via Twitter, MTV’s doctor in residence
was calm and composed during the performance of her toe-tapping ditty “Skinny Genes”
. Jump below to whistle along with the 23-year-old songstress.
Cee Lo went green with his attire on Lopez Tonight
in an appearance that had he and host George Lopez crooning a few lines together from Elton John’s “I’m Still Standing” — a song the Grammy-winning
soul singer says he identifies with. Cee Lo also discussed his team’s electrifying performance of Sly & The Family Stone’s “Everyday People”
on The Voice
on Tuesday night. Watch below!
What’s this? The Latin heartthrob who’s managed to get club-goers across the globe to shake their rumps over the years with dance-pop hits like “Bailamos,” “I Like It”
and “Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You)”
can’t actually dance? Enrique Iglesias hit up Lopez Tonigh
t after performing his new single “Dirty Dancer”
on American Idol last night
, but admitted to host George Lopez that he’s got two left feet in real life. Watch below.
Last year’s American Idol winner
Lee DeWyze hit up Lopez Tonight
to perform his sleepy ballad “Beautiful Like You,” i.e. the song he crooned on AI the night Karen Rodriguez got the boot
last month. It’s kind of a given that the first rushed album an Idol
winner puts out is inevitably going to be a hodge podge of tunes, given the amount of cooks in the kitchen involved. But we can pretty much declare with confidence that this elevator-ready track will never, ever
grow on us the way, say, “Tattoo” or “Miss Independent” or “Live Like We’re Dying” did. Carry on, Lee.
Prince and George Lopez showed some brotherly love for one another on last night’s Lopez Tonight
. The Purple One came on to promote his 21-Night Stand residency in Los Angeles
(which he announced via phone call to the talk show host
earlier this week), and performed three songs – but not before both men gushed over one another. Watch the performances and the bromance blossom below.
