Jermaine Comes To 'Ellen' With Open Arms
Following his emotional win on the second season of The Voice last week, former Alicia Keys backup singer Jermaine Paul swung by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to discuss what was going through his head on his big night. “I honestly thought I was going to be number four, and then when they called number four I thought I was going to be number three,” Paul told DeGeneres. “I just did what I always do in this whole process… I just prayed. I just had a conversation with God and said, let your will be done. Whatever it be, I’m good with it.” More »

Jermaine Paul Wins ‘The Voice’: Review Revue

The dust has now settled on last night’s Season 2 finale of The Voice, wherein former Alicia Keys backup singer Jermaine Paul was crowned the winner. It was a score for country crooning coach Blake Shelton, who was trounced last year by Adam Levine‘s soulful contestant Javier Colon. (Though, for Paul’s sake, let’s hope his career follows a more fruitful path than Colon’s has to date.) Head below to see our roundup of what the online critics had to say about the Voice finale — and about Jermaine’s big win. More »

Team Blake notched its first victory on NBC’s The Voice Tuesday night (May 8), as Jermaine Paul was crowned the Season 2 winner. The soulful former backup singer for Alicia Keys netted himself a deal with Universal Records after locking in just 4% more votes than runner-up Juliet Simms.

“I just wanted to say thank you for everyone that voted for me,” the emotional Jermaine told the crowd. “God bless y’all, man. Nobody but Jesus, man, nobody!” Then the producers, for some reason, put a mike in his hands and made him sing through his tears and joy, holding tight to his wife, and revisit his competition-winning final performance of R. Kelly‘s “I Believe I Can Fly”. More »

‘The Voice’: Christina Aguilera And Adam Levine Have “99 Problems” In The Finale

Season 2 Finale
That’s it, folks! The Voice has sung its last high-stakes song of the year and now it’s time for Jesus to take the wheel. Well, not actually Jesus. America is the one in the driver’s seat as Season 2 cruises toward the finish line. Monday night’s (May 7) penultimate episode managed to stretch the remaining singing requirements of the four contestants — their one final show-’em-what-you-got, lay-it-all-on-the-line performance on which America is supposed to decide this year’s winner — into a two-hour music marathon of duets, tributes and drama! Oh, yes, there was no way the producers were going to let this season slip away without a little coach in-fighting, and so they allowed an incident from rehearsals to bleed into the live taping. ‘The Voice’: Juliet Simms, Tony Lucca Make It To Season 2 Final Four

Javier Colon The Voice
Javier Colon - A Drop In The Ocean
The Voice‘s Season 1 Final Four came home while half of the remaining Season 2 contestants were sent home on Tuesday night’s (May 1) elimination show. Which means, yes, the competition is once again down to four singers after a long night of apologies from the coaches who put the fates of their singers entirely into America’s hands and reassurances from the coaches who skewed the odds in one person’s favor. And then last year’s inaugural winner Javier Colon, along with Vicci Martinez, Dia Frampton and Beverly McClellan returned to the NBC stage (with some very special friends, may we add) to perform and to catch us up on their year following The Voice and to demonstrate to the poor souls who’d be going no further in the competition that hey, even the losers win on this show. ‘The Voice’: Juliet Simms Makes A “Man’s World” Her Own In The Semifinals

The Voice has entered the home stretch to its two-part finale next week, and last night the final eight contestants, two from each team, took the stage for a night of high-octane performances. But before we get to that, a note about the judge’s costuming choices. Despite however The Wanted feel about her, Christina Aguilera wore a tiara and a four-finger “Xtina” ring. Cee Lo Green wore a shirt with a picture of his evil Dr. Claw cat, and Adam Levine, clearly taking in our criticism from last week, wore a proper shirt.

The finalists from Teams Adam and Christina did combine to churn out a milquetoast rehashing of The Killers’ “All These Things That I’ve Done.” And Team Cee Lo and Team Blake all put on denim shirts and sang Lady Gaga’s “Edge Of Glory.” We’re in the semifinals now, so no one singer handed in a trainwreck performance. But some certainly shined brighter than the rest — including coach Blake Shelton, who took the stage to sing his gossamer country hit “Over.” More »

‘The Voice’: The Wanted Perform “Chasing The Sun”; Two Singers Get Chased Off The Show

Watch Video
Monday night (Apr. 17), The Voice judge Christina Aguilera caused controversy when she cut perceived frontrunner Jesse Campbell from her team during the quarterfinals’ instant eliminations. “I am no stranger to controversy,” Christina said on Tuesday night’s results show, before giving herself props for making all the tough decisions. But before we learned which of the singers earned the most votes overnight UK fivesome The Wanted performed their new single “Chasing The Sun” on a smoke-filled stage backed by sexy lady dancers. And, oh yeah, Justin Bieber showed up. More »

‘The Voice’: Maroon 5 & Wiz Khalifa Dial Up “Payphone”; Two Vocalists Are Cut

Watch Video
Last night’s first quarterfinals episode of The Voice was jam-packed. Adam Levine and Maroon 5 debuted their first live performance of “Payphone” with Wiz Khalifa. Carson tried to pretend that the song hadn’t leaked earlier in the day, but the good thing about TV is that he couldn’t see us rolling our eyes at home. Wiz took forever to hit the stage, finally entering from stage left two-thirds of the way in for what will probably be his pop-crossover verse.

The night’s two featured teams turned in performances both overblown and understated, and in two shocking instant eliminations, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton sent two of their most promising recruits back to the barracks. Head below to see which contestant soared and which crashed and burned. More »
