Jessie J staged one of the year’s most unexpected yet very welcome comebacks with Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj-assisted smash “Bang Bang”. The unstoppable anthem was a timely reminder of the diva’s incredible vocal prowess and she’s going to run with the momentum by swiftly moving on to “Burnin’ Up” — the second taste of new LP Sweet Talker.
Produced by red-hot hitmakers Wallpaper and Axident, “Burnin’ Up” sounds like a nuclear-powered club-banger with major radio appeal. “I got a fever tell me what did you do, temperature risin’ when I look at you,” sing/howls the Brit over slick beats in a snippet that appeared on her Instagram account today (September 19). Can’t wait to hear 2 Chainz‘s verse! Check it out after the jump More »
This is kind of shady. Jessie J and Ariana Grande have released a rap-free version of (late-)summer smash “Bang Bang”. That, dear friends, means that Nicki Minaj‘s cute verse is no longer with us. It’s not that uncommon for a featured artist to be removed for a remix but the whole appeal of the song is that it brought together three very different divas.
What we’re left with is a migraine-inducing scream-off between the British comeback queen and mini Mariah. Jessie’s powerful pipes win that battle (easily) but Nicki’s absence is palpable. Hopefully, this isn’t an official release and never finds its way to iTunes or the Barbz will revolt. On the bright side, this version gives you a whole new appreciation for the original. Jessie J is bringing a little sweetness stateside this fall.
Just ahead of the release of her forthcoming third studio LP Sweet Talker on October 14, the British powerhouse vocalist has just announced two intimate shows in America this October.
Jessie will be heading to Gramercy Theatre in NYC on October 9, followed by a performance on her album release day at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on October 14. And, judging by her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards this year, Jessie’s beloved Heartbeats are certainly in for a stunning live showcase.
The songstress will most likely be performing a mixture of older Who You Are smashes like “Price Tag” and “Domino,” as well as key cuts off of her upcoming album. And hey, maybe her “Bang Bang” BFFs Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj or “Burnin’ Up” collaborator 2 Chainz will stop by too?
In the meantime, get excited for Jessie’s next single by watching her acoustic take on the track after the jump. More »
The MTV Video Music Awards — always the bastion of big, glossy pop performances! The 2014 installment was no exception, as Charli XCX
and Fifth Harmony
got the night warmed up during the pre-show, before Ariana Grande
, Nicki Minaj
and Jessie J
kicked the official VMAs show off with a “Bang Bang.”

Goddamn, it seems like it’s been forever since Jessie J
, Ariana Grande
and Nicki Minaj
began teasing their joint collaboration “Bang Bang.” The song has since gone on to become an iTunes best-seller, and now the music video is here! (Leave it to these stellar divas to choose MTV VMAs night
to drop the visual.)
Head below to watch Jessie, Ariana and Nicki separately strut their stuff through Los Angeles before meeting up and rocking a rooftop by the video’s end. More »
unveiled the title and striking cover of her third LP Sweet Talker
yesterday (August 21). The Brit is obviously in a generous mood because she shared the artwork for the deluxe edition this morning and then announced the full tracklist, which features comeback hit “Bang Bang”
— obviously — as well as some very surprising collaborations.
For starters, the “Wild” diva teams up with hip hop veterans De La Soul on “Seal Me With A Kiss” and violinist Lindsey Stirling on “Loud”. Then there’s the 2 Chainz collab “Burning Up”, which she spoke about when we interviewed her recently. The line-up of producers is equally tantalizing. The reformed bisexual worked with Max Martin, Ricky Reed and Diplo. See the full tracklist after the jump. More »
Like many before her, Jessie J
fell victim to the sophomore slump. After sweeping everything in her path with blockbuster debut LP Who You Are
, the outspoken Brit failed to make a similar impact with Alive
. Her aggressive new sound and bold image overhaul were too much for most fans and she seemed destined for the pop scrapheap. That is until she rebounded with “Bang Bang”
The 26-year-old engineered one of 2014′s most unlikely comebacks by reaching out to Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande. “Bang Bang” (appropriately) spearheads Jessie J’s third LP Sweet Talker, which drops October 13. She unveiled the cover on Instagram today (August 21) and it boasts a striking snap of the diva wearing very little clothing. Welcome back! More »
That “Bang Bang” promo keeps coming!
After Jessie J spilled the beans on a “Bang Bang” performance at the 2014 MTV VMAs alongside Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande, the trio just popped up in a brand new commercial for Beats By Dr. Dre.
The three superstar divas all take turns flaunting their generally glam lives to the tune of “Bang Bang,” from Jessie J stepping into a souped up ride, to Ari getting ready at a video shoot, to Miss Minaj casually stepping out into a helicopter — y’know, as pop divas generally do. The ad sells a whole bunch of products, including the Pink Pill XL, the Pink Mixr and, of course “Bang Bang.” Get those coins, girls!

The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards
are kicking off with a bang — a bang bang, that is!
As suspected following the announcement of both Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande as performers for the evening, the pop powerhouses will link up with Jessie J to perform their massive summer Max Martin collaborative banger, “Bang Bang.”
Of course, that’s not all: The accompanying Hannah Lux Davis-directed music video — sponsored by Beats by Dr. Dre and Target — will drop immediately after on MTV. And get your dancing shoes on, because the clip apparently includes “an easy-to-learn dance that the British songstress made up.”
You ready for all that? Let us know if you’re excited for all the “Bang Bang” madness coming up in the comments below. More »
is back on top and bigger than ever thanks to a little song called “Bang Bang.”
Before the British singer-songwriter hooked up with Ariana Grande
and Nicki Minaj
for her out-of-the-blue summer 2014 smash, she was known stateside for previous hits like “Price Tag” and the magnificent slice of pop “Domino.”
But for her upcoming third album, Jessie’s been working with a pedigree of musicians and songwriters that could just ensure she’ll graduate from the status of “oh, right — her” to “Oh…HER!
“I was lucky enough to work with Tricky and The-Dream, Diplo, 2 Chainz, Max Martin, Ammo,” Jessie tells Idolator. In fact, Max “Midas Touch” Martin, who co-produced “Bang Bang,” co-wrote the infectious upcoming track from J’s new album called “Burning Up,” which features a crazy rap from 2 Chainz that the singer couldn’t help spitting out for us during the above interview. (No, really — Jessie J imitating 2 Chainz…you gotta watch it.) More »
