B is for Britney Spears! K is for Kylie Minogue! J is for Justin Bieber! The stars are spelling it all out for you right on their scarves this year…and it’s all for a really good cause.
British retailer Matalan has created line of scarves called Alphabet Scarves, a perfectly fashionable and charitable line of lettered scarves for the winter season. According to the store, 100% of the profits from the sale of each of these scarves will go to the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital Charity in order to raise awareness and funds for the Liverpool-based children’s hospital.
To help support the cause, a whole crew of pop stars are getting in the action and posting photos wrapped in their own alphabet scarves, including Jessie J, Tinie Tempah, Girls Aloud darling Nicola Roberts, Spice Girls icon Mel C, Glee‘s Lea Michele and Foxes. Now that’s one way of putting your selfies to good use!
Check out the full gallery of stars in scarves up top, and if you want to get in on the action, you can order your very own Alphabet Scarf too. More »
Another day, another Jessie J performance. The hard-working Brit belted out “Burnin’ Up” on The Queen Latifah Show today (October 27) and she delivered a typically energetic rendition with on-point vocals and serious crowd interaction. In other words, it was pretty much identical to her appearances on Good Morning America, Live With Kelly & Michael, Dancing With The Stars and The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
There’s nothing wrong with a promo blitz but this feels unnecessary given that “Burnin’ Up” has thus far peaked at number 86 on the Billboard Hot 100. (It reached a depressing number 73 in the UK). That could have a lot to do with the staying power of “Bang Bang”, which continues to dominate radio and iTunes. Perhaps it would be wiser to let that hit run its course before force-feeding fans the follow-up? Watch up top. More »
It’s time for our quarterly round-up of raunchy pop diva pics! And, as usual, the leading ladies of music did not disappoint. In further proof that 2014 is the year of the nude, it was almost an embarrassment of the riches with everyone from 19-year-old newcomer Niykee Heaton to 56-year-old pop legend Madonna losing their clothes in the name of self expression/free publicity.
The usual candidates are all represented. Outtakes from Rihanna‘s iconic Lui magazine shoot surfaced online and got everyone clicking, while Miley Cyrus‘ Instagram account remains a valid alternative to PornHub. Honorable mentions go to Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea for proving that rap divas do it better. Peruse the (semi-NSFW) gallery up top. More »
Sam Smith swept the 2014 MOBO Awards last night (October 22), as he took away four awards. The In The Lonely Hour crooner won Best R&B/Soul Act, Best Male, Best Album and Best Song for his smash “Stay With Me.”
The ceremony, which stands for Music of Black Origin, was hosted by former Spice Girl Mel B and BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Sarah-Jane Crawford. The highlight performances of the night came from Sweet Talker Jessie J and honorary Brit, Nicole Scherzinger. The former sung a tried-and-true mashup of “Bang Bang” and “Burnin’ Up” featuring rapper Kid Ink, while the latter won the crowd with her latest tune “On The Rocks.”

It’s back-to-back-to-back country albums on top of the Billboard 200, as Florida Georgia Line debut at #1 with Anything Goes (197,000 sold) following chart-topping stints by Blake Shelton and Jason Aldean in recent weeks. Also, Bob Seger follows follows the trend of veteran acts making a big showing in the Top 10 lately (see: Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett and Stevie Nicks) by debuting at #3 with his 17th studio album Ride Out (59,000).
That leaves Pink and Dallas Green (aka You+Me) to go in at #4 with rose ave. (50,000), which, if you can wrap your head around it, is actually the third-best chart position ever for a Pink album. The only two that did better: 2008′s Funhouse (#2) and 2012′s The Truth About Love (#1). More »
The talented young ladies of Little Mix quietly dropped one of the better girl group records in recent history late last year with Salute, which spawned cuts like the snappy “Move” and self-empowering title track. Since the last album’s release, they’ve been hard at work ever since recording a follow-up — and now, we’re starting to find out who’s been helping to shape their sound.
While interviewing on the red carpet at BBC Radio 1′s Teen Awards, the girls revealed to Digital Spy their enviable list of collaborators, including Marina And The Diamonds, MNEK, Jess Glynne and Jessie J.”I think it’s just a step up really – production, vocals, everything,” Jamaican accent expert Jesy explained. Jessie J has delivered a string of brilliant performances during her promo blitzkrieg for new LP Sweet Talker but today’s (October 17) appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show was her best yet. The fiery Brit looked incredible in her purple satin pantsuit and got the party started with a solo version of Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj-assisted summer smash “Bang Bang”.
That segued into a positively euphoric rendition of Ricky Reed/Axident-produced club-banger “Burnin’ Up”. It didn’t take a lot of encouragement for the crowd to jump to their feet and start clapping along. Jessie’s new single is quickly climbing iTunes — it’s already top 40 — and looks set to be another huge hit. Watch her energetic performance up top. More »
Jessie J reigned in her career by focusing on dominating the U.S. market, with her latest album Sweet Talker (out today, October 14). The singer’s third studio LP is her attempt to breaking into the Top 40, which was a harder feat for her since she mainly gained traction in the UK. But does the album live up to its expectations of being an eye-catching pop masterpiece?
In our review, we wrote “‘Bang Bang’ was effective enough to help the singer stage a stateside comeback. But the all-star team (Diplo, The-Dream, Tricky Stewart) behind the toned-down Sweet Talker failed to tackle the problem that first pervaded her schizophrenic 2011 debut, Who You Are: Vocal tricks aside, Jessie J doesn’t have a clear sense of identity.
