Little Mix Are Working With Marina And The Diamonds, MNEK And Jessie J On Their New Album

Atttttention!

The talented young ladies of Little Mix quietly dropped one of the better girl group records in recent history late last year with Salute, which spawned cuts like the snappy “Move” and self-empowering title track. Since the last album’s release, they’ve been hard at work ever since recording a follow-up — and now, we’re starting to find out who’s been helping to shape their sound.

While interviewing on the red carpet at BBC Radio 1′s Teen Awards, the girls revealed to Digital Spy their enviable list of collaborators, including Marina And The Diamonds, MNEK, Jess Glynne and Jessie J.”I think it’s just a step up really – production, vocals, everything,” Jamaican accent expert Jesy explained. Jessie J Brings ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ Audience To Their Feet With A Killer Mash Of “Bang Bang” And “Burnin’ Up”: Watch

Red Hot

Jessie J has delivered a string of brilliant performances during her promo blitzkrieg for new LP Sweet Talker but today’s (October 17) appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show was her best yet. The fiery Brit looked incredible in her purple satin pantsuit and got the party started with a solo version of Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj-assisted summer smash “Bang Bang”.

That segued into a positively euphoric rendition of Ricky Reed/Axident-produced club-banger “Burnin’ Up”. It didn’t take a lot of encouragement for the crowd to jump to their feet and start clapping along. Jessie’s new single is quickly climbing iTunes — it’s already top 40 — and looks set to be another huge hit. Watch her energetic performance up top. More »

Jessie J’s ‘Sweet Talker’: Review Revue

Jessie J reigned in her career by focusing on dominating the U.S. market, with her latest album Sweet Talker (out today, October 14). The singer’s third studio LP is her attempt to breaking into the Top 40, which was a harder feat for her since she mainly gained traction in the UK. But does the album live up to its expectations of being an eye-catching pop masterpiece?

In our review, we wrote “Bang Bang’ was effective enough to help the singer stage a stateside comeback. But the all-star team (DiploThe-DreamTricky Stewart) behind the toned-down Sweet Talker failed to tackle the problem that first pervaded her schizophrenic 2011 debut, Who You Are: Vocal tricks aside, Jessie J doesn’t have a clear sense of identity.

So did other music critics agree with our sentiments? Read on after the jump to see their commentary. More »

Next up was “Burnin’ Up,” which included a troop of sexy backup dancers and shirtless men. Featured artist 2 Chainz did not make an appearance, though. “Bang Bang” and “Burnin’ Up” are the latest songs off Jessie J’s third studio LP, Sweet Talker (out today, October 14). More »

Jessie J’s ‘Sweet Talker’: Album Review

I allowed other people to come in and push my control and make me uncomfortable,” Jessie J said of her third studio album Sweet Talker (out today, ). Based on what happened this summer, that move hardly seems like a risk.

Hiring reliable, bold-faced producers and songwriters is often a fail-safe move in pop, and with her sophomore album Alive being restricted to a UK-only release, Jessie J’s decision doesn’t seem like an exception. Along came “Bang Bang,” her Max Martin-assisted, high-octane pop hit that features Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj. Currently a Top 10 single, it arrived right on trend during a season ruled by all-female collaborations, although with all its gospel inflections it seemed to cater most to Jessie J’s comfort zone and newfound role as leading diva.

Bang Bang” was effective enough to help the singer stage a stateside comeback. But the all-star team (DiploThe-Dream, Tricky Stewart) behind the toned-down Sweet Talker failed to tackle the problem that first pervaded her schizophrenic 2011 debut, Who You Are: Vocal tricks aside, Jessie J doesn’t have a clear sense of identity. He revealed in his new book A Visual Journey that he spent two-and-a-half years homeless on the London streets. Sheeran wrote in an excerpt, “There was an arch outside Buckingham Palace that has a heating duct and I spent a couple of nights there… I didn’t have anywhere to live for much of 2008 and the whole of 2009 and 2010, but somehow I made it work.” [Digital Spy]

:: Simon Cowell has a feeling that The X Factor USA will be making a return to our screens. The show hasn’t aired in the U.S. since last December, and with competition like NBC’s The Voice and ABC’s Rising Star making a comeback may be harder than Cowell expects. [Rolling Stone]

:: Ozzy Osbourne will be honored at the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards, where he’ll received the Global Icon Award. Catch the legendary rocker and other stars when the show airs on Sunday, November 9. [MTV]

Piping Hot

Jessie J is currently promoting new LP Sweet Talker (due October 14) with a series of TV appearances and live performances. The Brit, who landed one of the biggest hits of the summer with Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj collaboration “Bang Bang”, dropped by Live With Kelly & Michael this morning and deliver a high-energy performance of new single “Burnin’ Up”.

The raven-haired singer looked more like a rock chick than an urban-pop diva in her jeans and t-shirt but she soon had the crowd clapping along to her Ricky Reed/Axident-produced club-banger. Jessie sounded as brilliant as ever (she is one of the strongest vocalists in pop) but the live arrangement didn’t the song any justice. Maybe this is just one of those jams that demands playback? Watch up top. More »
