Jessie J has been just about everywhere while promoting her latest studio album in the States, from covering Sia‘s “Titanium” with Jennifer Hudson at the Concert For Valor to performing in NYC at the Musician’s On Call gala earlier this week. And now, she’s made her way her over to Jimmy Kimmel Live (ahead of her American Music Awards performance with Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj!) to perform two of her Sweet Talker cuts.
Dressed in thigh high boots (a fashion cue from her new pal, Ari?) and a chic black and white striped top, the powerhouse vocalist tore through both “Burnin Up” and “Masterpiece” onstage, supplying her usual combination of impressive pipes and undeniable on-stage charisma. The girl is a natural, that’s for sure! And, as a bit of a surprise for the audience, 2 Chainz arrives on stage during the tail-end of “Burnin’ Up” to supply his rapid-fire verse. Watch Jessie J’s performance of “Burnin’ Up” up top, and check out “Masterpiece” after the jump. More »

On their own, Jessie J and Jennifer Hudson have killer vocals — so just imagine when the two powerhouses come together for a duet! That’s just what happened at yesterday’s (November 11) Concert For Valor concert in honor of Veteran’s Day. The ladies graced the stage to perform David Guetta and Sia‘s 2011 chart-topping single, “Titanium,” in front of the crowd of 800,000.
Hudson and J donned all-black outfits as they showed off their soulful voices over the track, which was transformed into a lush, piano-laden ballad. Check out the performance up top. More »
Well, here’s a polarizing and/or very exciting thing!
Producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins is responsible for creating some the best pop hits over the past two decades, from Destiny’s Child‘s “Say My Name” to Lady Gaga‘s “Telephone” to Justin Bieber‘s “As Long As You Love Me.” Next year will officially mark the producer’s 20th anniversary in the music industry, and he wants to celebrate his achievements — by bringing them into the future.
In an interview with HITS Daily Double, the producer revealed that he’s got a “special project” lined up for 2015, where he’ll be releasing originals and “reimagined hits.” “So for example, I’ll do the ‘The Boy Is Mine’ with Ariana [Grande] and Jessie J. Sam [Smith] is doing “It’s Not Right, But It’s Okay” by Whitney Houston, which Sam told me was the song that made him want to sing,” he explained.
Whoa. “The Boy Is Mine” and “It’s Not Right, But It’s Okay” are modern pop classics at this point. Will today’s hottest stars be able to tackle them? Darkchild seems to think so. “Sam’s the truth. He has a great heart and he’s genuine. His music speaks for who he is. This is a project I’m really looking forward to.”
But how about you? Are you looking forward to these reinventions? Let us know in the comments below.
A dancer fails to give up on her dreams in Jessie J‘s lyric video for her latest tune — “Masterpiece.” The young ballerina is shown in a dance studio endlessly practicing her moves in preparation for an audition. The ballad’s soaring piano rhythms and reassuring lyrics (“You haven’t seen the best of me, I’m still working on my masterpiece”) is the perfect complement to the visual.
“Masterpiece” is from Jessie J’s third studio LP Sweet Talker, which includes tracks like “Bang Bang,” “Burnin’ Up” and “Ain’t Been Done.” It was released on October 14. More »
Jessie J staged one of the biggest comebacks of 2014 when she returned to the upper reaches of the Billboard Hot 100 with girl-power collaboration “Bang Bang”. That song is still lingering in the top five but the British diva is ready to move on to her next single, the Ricky Reed/Axident-produced “Burnin’ Up”, and she has a five-track remix EP (due November 24) to prove it.
One of the DJs tasked with overhauling the next taste of Sweet Talker is Dutch veteran Don Diablo. He transforms “Burnin’ Up” into a booming electro-house anthem with a monstrous bassline and massive drops. If the other remixes are this good, Jessie J will be the new queen of clubs in no time! Check out the fast-and-furious remix after the jump. More »
