Idolator’s 5 Most Disappointing Albums Of 2012 … So Far

Boo! Hiss!
Yes, we’re aware it’s still only the first week of June and it’s a little early to be calling out the music industry’s biggest fails. But hey, we’re doing it anyway, because the heartbreak we’ve felt so far in 2012… well, it’s been hard. In December, we were practically foaming at the mouth for the goodies the New Year was set to bring: a new Madonna album! Roman was being reloaded! Lana Del Rey’s first full-length (under that name, at least)! And then, sad face, things didn’t quite measure up to our expectations. Head below to see the five albums that disappointed us the most. Coachella 2012: Gotye, Azealia Banks, Dr. Dre And More From Weekend 2

Music lovers reconvened for round two of the 2012 Coachella Music Festival despite the 104-degree heat. Those who braved the elements for Weekend 2, were treated to a polished set by Frank Ocean, a dance party from Afrojack and a sing-along with chart-topper GotyeWhile Rihanna and Usher were no-shows this time around, Sia made a guest appearance during David Guetta‘s set, and the man — er, hologram — of the festival, Tupac Shakur, returned for his grand (and final) performance on Sunday night. And though it is now time now us to put away our beaded headbands and tend to our sunburns, you can check out all the action from Coachella 2012′s last stand by clicking the gallery above. Catch you next April!

Coachella 2012 Daily Recap: Weekend 2, Day 2

Stifling desert heat blasted Coachella for a second straight day, but you’d hardly know it from the music festival’s dance tent, where shirtless bros and bikini-clad ladies reveled in 100-degree heat like it was just another Saturday. In some ways, it was — considering that the same artists had performed on the same stages just a week earlier. (Festival organizers are throwing a curveball this year by offering an identical lineup on back-to-back weekends). But the tent also held one of the day’s biggest surprises, courtesy of David Guetta (again). Details on all of Coachella’s Day 2 performances below. More »

Miike Snow And Lykke Li Get Out Of The Box At Coachella 2012 (PHOTOS)

Miike Snow attracted a massive crowd to Coachella’s outdoor stage, where they pumped out slithery, high-BPM jams under an elaborate lighting rig that cast the oft-mysterious band in shadow. Huge applause greeted hits from their debut album, like “Silvia”, but the crowd also seemed psyched for the trio’s latest, Happy To You — and just in case, the band (2/3 of whom, of course, are Swedish producers Bloodshy & Avant) amped up their performance of new jam “Black Tin Box” by bringing out fellow Swede Lykke Li, who features on the track. Along with Swedish indie faves Peter Bjorn and John, Miike Snow and Lykke have also collaborated on a newly formed record label called Ingrid. Why? Because, as the pop faithful know, you can’t mess with Sweden.

Coachella 2012 Daily Recap: Weekend 1, Day 2

After yeterday’s chill factor on the Coachella grounds became a nuisance among the musical revelery, I came more prepared for Day 2: Jeans! Wool socks! Two sweatshirts! The day began sunny and warm, but I was definitely glad I prepared for the winds that came to the Polo Fields in the nighttime. Wait, am I really still talking about the weather? Let’s get to the recap of what really matters: the music, the mayhem, and 90s Goth Katy Perry, who premiered her new purple hair at the festival, along with her love of The Craft.

In Miike Snow’s “The Wave” Video, The Apocalypse Wears Black Vinyl Pants

Sober up your Thursday with Miike Snow’s “The Wave” video, which is equal parts kooky and disturbing. Picking up at the end of “Paddling Out,” which depicted a human man surgically altered by aliens and transformed into a giant-nosed, black-vinyl-pants-wearing curiosity, this Andreas Nilsson-directed clip begins with an object falling from space and killing a lot of people, then spends a lengthy amount of time with the police as they deal with the bodies. Fun, right? Luckily, things take a turn for the bizarre toward the end and lighten up (kind of). To describe what happens would be impossible, so just head below and watch the latest from the Happy To You trio for yourself.

Miike Snow And Lykke Li Team Up For New Song “Black Tin Box”

Though Bloodyshy & Avant, two thirds of the indie-pop outfit Miike Snow, typically create gleaming, radio-friendly tunes for the likes of Britney Spears, they’re saving their darker melodies for their own. Their new single “Black Tin Box” starts off reserved and cold, but as it progresses, everything gets a bit warmer with the addition of some bubbly synths — as well as the group’s fellow Swede Lykke Li, who shows up after the two minute mark. Join in on the Norwegian chill by listening below.
