Remember PSY? He’s Collaborating With Steven Tyler. (Remember Steven Tyler?)

PSY, one-time commander of the world’s attention, is about to mount a comeback of sorts. The Korean rapper dropped “Gangnam Style” follow-up “Gentleman” earlier this year, and its video tried so desperately to create another dance craze, to no avail. But he’s still got big plans, telling Italian Vogue that he has lined up a collaboration with Aerosmith‘s Steven Tyler.

“I just finished recording my next song with a legendary artist, Steven Tyler from Aerosmith,” PSY said. “When I was in middle school, I literally cried when they were singing ‘Crazy’ or ‘Amazing’ or whatever, they were my lifetime role models, and now I am collaborating with Steven Tyler, what the fuck, man? I love my life.”  More »

Grammy Awards: 8 Moments Time May Have Forgotten, But We Didn’t

So, This Happened
The 55th Annual Grammy Awards are just hours away, and like the rest of you pop fanatics out there, we’re impatiently counting down every second until showtime. With a lineup that includes Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean and Taylor Swift, as well as exciting collaborations from Ed Sheeran and Elton John, plus Bruno Mars, Sting and Rihanna, 2013 is looking like it will be quite a memorable year for the Grammys.

But (you knew there had to be a but, right?), if we’ve learned anything from the last 54 years, it’s that no matter how seemingly strange the paired performance, or how many pop stars are paying tribute to an icon, or who bum rushes the stage (we’re looking at you, Mr. “Soy Bomb” and Ol’ Dirty Bastard), the mind tends to forget these occasions. We’ve set out to fix that! Your BFFs at Idolator have rounded up eight Grammy moments so memorable, you wonder how they ever escaped from the clutches of your memory.

Give your mind a refresher starting above, with that time that Jay-Z performed with Linkin Park and Sir Paul McCartney at the 48th Annual Grammys. (Please note: Jay is wearing a John Lennon t-shirt.)

Steven Tyler To Nicki Minaj: “A Racist I’m Not, Nicki”

Nicki Minaj‘s latest sparring partner, former American Idol judge Steven Tyler, has shot down Nicki’s claims that his critical comments were fueled by racism. The Aerosmith frontman offered a semi-apology/clarification on Tuesday (November 27), saying, “I apologize if it was taken wrong, Nicki…But I am the farthest from [being a racist].”

Tyler on Monday criticized Minaj’s judging abilities (serious matters, people!), causing the rapper to go on a Twitter tirade in which she claimed his remarks were racist. On Canadian entertainment show eTalk, Tyler addressed the controversy, saying, “I am the last thing on this planet as far as being a racist. I don’t know where she got that out of me saying I’m not sure how she would’ve judged Bob Dylan.” He added, “Maybe I spoke out of turn, but a racist I’m not, Nicki,” presumably in a Yoda voice. So, settled! We’re sure Nicki will never speak of this spat ever again.

Steven Tyler’s ‘American Idol’ Stint Still Sore Subject For Aerosmith

Steven Tyler & Joe Perry (Mostly) Bury The Hatchet
Steven Tyler‘s two seasons as a judge on American Idol were generally seen as a success. He may not have been the most incisive judge, but he was entertaining and brought back some of the loopiness the show lost with Paula Abdul‘s departure. But the gig put his day job as the Aerosmith frontman on thin ice, as it ignited tensions between the singer and guitarist Joe Perry.

Aerosmith’s “toxic twins” sat down with ABC backstage at the iHeart Radio festival and opened up about the still-ripe issue. Though the band joined Tyler on the May Idol finale for a performance of their new song “Legendary Child,” and Tyler has since left the show, it’s clear in the above interview that the sexagenarians still don’t quite see eye-to-eye on Idol. Steven Tyler On Judging ‘American Idol’: “I Loved It And Hated It”

Now that Steven Tyler has departed his judges’ seat on American Idol, the 64-year-old rocker is free to tell us how he really felt about his two-year stint on the reality competition. “[It's] not my cup of tea,” Tyler admitted to The Hollywood Reporter. “I loved it and hated it. It was a great job. I sat next to J. Lo and I made a ton of money. It was a moment in life and it became larger than life.”

Well, what did you expect him to say? That he discovered that reality show judging was his new calling, and he’s heartbroken to go back to the insanely successful rock band that made him a household name? Money and J.Lo is as good a reason as any to say yes to a job. More »

Carrie Underwood To Duet With Steven Tyler On Aerosmith’s New Album

Steven Tyler won’t be returning to American Idol, but the rocker is still keeping some ties to the reality show. Season 4 winner and country superstar Carrie Underwood will duet with Tyler on Aerosmith‘s upcoming album, Music From Another Dimension (out November 6).

Carrie is an extremely talented, likable artist, so it makes sense why anyone would want to work with her. But the band’s main goal in getting the singer on their album was picking up more country fans. Alleges Mike Mullaney, Music Director of Boston radio station Mix 104.1, “At first, the rest of the band didn’t want to put it on there but their label convinced them, ‘Guys, this will get you airplay in red states.’ So that was that.” More »

Steven Tyler Officially Leaving ‘American Idol’

First Jennifer Lopez more or less announced her departure from American Idol, and now Steven Tyler is following suit. “After some long……hard……thoughts…I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit,” wrote the rocker in an official statement. Head below to the rest of his flowery, nonsensical explanation of why he’s leaving the show.  More »
