Seeqpod—the “playable search” engine that allowed users to easily stream MP3s hosted on other peoples’ Web servers without ever seeing the content hosted by said machines—filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last week. What was its biggest expense? Its legal team, which no doubt billed a lot of hours trying to figure out just how it would convince EMI and Warner Music Group why they really didn’t need to file lawsuits against the service.
