Goldfrapp are in the full swing of the European promotion for newly-released album Head First, and the other night they appeared on German program TV Total. “Charlie our bass player isn’t able to be here (of course he would be here if he could, but he had something very urgent to attend to),” Alison Goldfrapp wrote on the band’s blog. “…his part will be a pre-record, everything else will be live of course,” she added, perhaps hinting at the Italian TV show fiasco from early last week. Sparkly! This week Head First entered the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart at #45. While that’s not an amazing number, it’s still the duo’s highest placing yet in the U.S. (Their last album, Seventh Tree, peaked at #48.)

“I love all the songs [on Head First],” Alison Goldfrapp told Idolator in our recent interview with her. “It’s short, but we really wanted every song to be there. It’s very concise. I’m very happy with it. It’s the kind of album I can’t wait to play live.”

Earlier this week, equally upbeat jam “Alive” was announced as the follow-up single to “Rocket.”
