Shady’s back, tell a friend: Eminem will perform and receive the Global Icon Award at the MTV Europe Music Awards, as hinted by YouTube promo and confirmed at a press conference.

The Detroit “Rap God” will perform alongside Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke, Katy Perry and Bruno Mars, among others. His MTV EMAs performance is just one of several high-profile appearances made to promote his new album The Marshall Mathers LP 2, following his stylized set at the YouTube Music Awards and Rick Rubin-backed gig on Saturday Night Live.

Eminem holds just two nominations — Justin Timberlake has five — although the Global Icon Award will be just one of several honors that he receives in recent weeks. As Billboard predicts a No. 1 debut for MMLP2, the industry publication confirms that Eminem tied the Beatles for scoring the most Top 20 singles in a week. Plus, Em holds the record for the most EMA wins of all time: 12.

This year’s award show also marks the first time in several years that the Global Icon Award goes to an artist who’s active and acts as if he’s still got something to prove. Previous winners include Bon Jovi in 2010, Queen in 2011 and the late pop diva Whitney Houston in 2012. The MTV EMAs air tonight (November 10) at 8 p.m. EST — for now, check out the promo clip for Eminem’s EMA performance after the jump.
