Lorde Dolls Up For ‘Fashion’ Magazine, Plays Down Her Musical Talent

Lorde is almost unrecognizable on the cover of Canada’s Fashion magazine. The 17-year-old recently posted untouched photos on Twitter to remind fans that flaws are ok but seems to have had hers removed in the doll-like shoot, which presents her as a sophisticated fashionista in a metallic dress with a stylish vintage twist. She looks gorgeous but talk about sending a mixed message.

In the accompanying interview, the “Team” hitmaker humbly downplays her talent. “Never for a second would I put myself beside a genius like Sylvia Plath!,” she says referencing the famous American poet. “I may have specific tastes but I’m not trying to be avant-garde with my approach or my music. I like indie [rock], pop and literature. I like to play with them but that doesn’t make me a genius.” I’m sure many of her fans would disagree with that statement.

Do you like Lorde’s Fashion cover or did they take the Photoshop too far?
