Coachella 2014: 7 Pop Acts On Our Radar, From Lana Del Rey To Haim And Lorde

Lorde  (Outdoor Theatre, Saturday at 7:55pm)

New Zealand’s gift to popular music will be a major drawcard at Coachella. Expect complete and utter chaos when she works her magical crab claws while belting out era-defining hits like “Royals” and “Team”. The 17-year-old is already a consummate live performer, so brace yourself for one hell of a show.

Haim (Outdoor Theatre, Friday at 4:55pm)

The most quintessentially Californian band in popular music will have the (relatively) hometown crowd in the palm of their collective hand as they perform shimmery West Coast pop gems like “Don’t Save Me”, “The Wire” and “Forever”, which is shaping up to be a belated hit. Also, who could miss an opportunity to witness Este’s glorious bassface?

Ellie Goulding (Coachella Stage, Friday at 6:40pm)

The British songbird is so hot right now that she was chosen to be “the inner voice” of main character Tris in the blockbuster movie Divergent. I still don’t know what the means but snippets of her music ran through the entire film, so it must be a pretty big deal. Ellie will tear up the stage (as usual) with new single “Beating Heart” as well as big hits like “Lights” and “Burn”. Expect dancing and a lot of emotionally overwhelmed concertgoers.
