JoJo Drops Surprise ‘#LoveJo2’ EP: Stream The ’90s-Inspired Gem

Christmas came early today (December 18) with the arrival of JoJo’s surprise EP #LoveJo2. A sequel to 2014’s #LoveJo, the four-song set finds the comeback queen in the mood to dance. She combines electronic beats, tropical house and ’90s references (there’s a cute interpolation of Donna Lewis’ 1996 smash “I Love You Always Forever”) on opening track “Right On Time.” And amazingly it works.

The retro vibe continues with a cover of Soul II Soul’s timeless club classic “Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)” and a reworked version of current single “When Love Hurts” featuring the bridge from Mary J. Blige’s 1992 hit “Real Love.” After three dance anthems, JoJo takes it down a notch with Austin Brown-produced ballad “Thinkin Out Loud.” Stream the impeccably curated EP in full below.
