Mariah Carey reaches out to Celine Dion in light of her husband Rene Angelil's death.

Celine Dion has lost another loved one. Two days after the singer’s husband René Angélil died of throat cancer, Celine’s older brother Daniel Dion passed away on January 16 after suffering from brain, throat and tongue cancer — a battle that “resembled René’s,” as sister Claudette told le Journal de Montréal. Daniel was 59.

Daniel’s long battles with cancer were only reported earlier this week, following news of René’s death. He was admitted into the Quebec palliative care center Maison Adhémar-Dion, while, according to a source, Celine was still in Las Vegas after cancelling her Las Vegas residency shows this weekend.

“Celine is still in Vegas with her kids making plans for [Rene’s] funeral,” the source told PEOPLE. “It’s a typical grieving process. There’s moments of shed tears, moments of memories and laughter.”
