'Grease: Live': Recap
The cast hand-jived through the Fox hit!

Just like Rock ‘n Roll, Grease: Live proved that live TV musicals are here to stay…for the time being, at least. The Sunday (January 31) night Fox broadcast grabbed the attention of 12.2 million viewers and landed a 4.3 rating among adults 18-49 according to reports. That puts it ahead of NBC’s The Wiz, which aired in December 2015 and racked up 11.5 million viewers, and the same network’s Peter Pan production, from exactly one year prior (9.2 million).

NBC’s The Sound Of Music Live! was the one that kicked the TV musical trend off in December 2013, when it nabbed an impressive 18.62 million live viewers. Next in the works: Fox’s small screen update of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, starring Victoria Justice, Ryan McCartan and Adam Lambert. Kenny Ortega (High School Musical) is set to direct, though there’s no official premiere date just yet.
