Hailee Steinfeld made a huge splash with debut single “Love Myself” in 2015. The Mattman & Robin-produced banger climbed all the way to number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 and eventually sold platinum. She teams up with “Cake By The Ocean” hitmakers DNCE for the follow-up, a new (and very much improved) version of HAIZ EP highlight “Rock Bottom.” There’s something undeniably ’80s about the punchy pop/rock anthem. If John Hughes was still making teen movies, this would be on the soundtrack.

“Breathe deep, bottle it up, so deep until it’s all we got,” Hailee sings in an early verse. “You get under my skin, more than anyone’s ever been,” counters an equally emo Joe Jonas, before they join forces on the lighters-in-the-air chorus. “We’re on the right side of rock bottom and I hope that we keep falling.” The well-matched collaborators will perform the song live for the first time on Good Morning America on February 29.
