SZA Shows Her Dance Diva Side On Felix Snow’s “Lies”

It feels like SZA‘s been “on the verge” for about two years, and maybe now with her featured roles on Rihanna‘s ANTI opener and Kendrick Lamar‘s untitled unmastered, plus a Day 2 Coachella set, things will finally snap into place with her. Of course, it would help if she released her own material during this time — apparently her namesake trilogy will conclude with this year, but her Z EP dropped way back in 2014, so who knows what TDE is doing with her. For now, though, another (really good!) feature placeholder.

SZA teams up with her frequent collaborator Felix Snow for “Lies,” a dance track off Snow’s upcoming EFFESS Records compilation. The high BPM allows SZA to display a side of her we’ve never heard — while there are moments that showcase her usual misty falsetto runs, she spends most of the track channeling her inner club diva to belt out soulful hooks that stand up to the energetic arrangement.
