Pop Perspective: The Chainsmokers' "Closer"
We rate and review The Chainsmokers & Halsey's new smash hit "Closer."

Halsey will follow up debut LP, Badlands, with a new album in June. The 22-year-old revealed the title on Twitter this afternoon (March 7) — along with a sultry topless picture (below) — and it’s a tongue-twister. “I’m pleased to announce my upcoming album, this june, is titled: hopeless fountain kingdom,” she tweeted. Her label was quick to confirm the news with a press release, which emphasized that the title is all lower case. There’s no word on the project’s direction yet, but Fifty Shades Darker anthem, “Not Afraid Anymore,” hints at a change of pace.

Expectations for Halsey’s sophomore set are high. The “New Americana” singer’s debut LP debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum. Incredibly, her profile has only increased since then with a feature on The Chainsmoker’s summer 2016-conquering “Closer” and a guest appearance on Justin Bieber’s Purpose LP. The pop star recently promoted her new album by flying 100 fans to London to listen to four songs in a church. If their tearful response is any indication, we’re in for something emotional.
