Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera's 'Do What U Want' remix should have been bigger.

In this franchise, we look back on songs that deserved a little more love and attention.

In 1999, Jennifer Lopez was merely a star on the rise, and no one knew that she was about to become one of the most famous women in the world. Lopez had her grand introduction when she broke out as the titular character of Selena — a biopic about the Latin-pop legend, who was tragically murdered by one of her biggest fans. A glittering career in movies awaited, but J.Lo had other ideas.

Instead, Jennifer decided to branch into pop. She released her debut album, On the 6, the same year and cemented her status as a verifiable pop, Latin, and hip-hop hitmaker. It’s no easy feat to crossover, not just from film to music, but across music genres, and Lopez has done it flawlessly time and time again.

On The 6 produced three singles, but the third and final single, “Feelin’ So Good,” never quite gets the love it deserves. Its predecessors (“If You Had My Love” and “Waiting for Tonight”) are oft-cited favorites in Lopez’s discography, but “Feelin’ So Good” holds its own.

For starters, the song introduced Lopez to the world as J.Lo. Of course, she would not formally take the moniker until she released her sophomore album in 2001, but glimmers of the J.Lo we know and love first came out in this song and its subsequent music video.

Yep… before she was officially “Jenny From The Block,” and before she crooned “R.U.L.E.,” she was “Feelin’ So Good,” enjoying the perfect kind of day that happens so rarely. This mid-tempo bop celebrates those days. The ones when the early morning sun blazes through your window, when mom makes you breakfast, when you find money on the ground, and when everything just feels right in the universe.

The song features verses from Fat Joe and Big Pun, marking the first of many times Lopez would collaborate with rappers. It’s a formula that works, and it paved the way for her collabs with everyone from Ja Rule to Pitbull. But this is the original, and Pun and Joe are the peanut butter to Lopez’s jelly. Smooth yet sweet and complete perfection together.

The video follows the triple threat through her perfect day, fittingly ending with a fierce dance break in the club with her pals. “Feelin’ So Good” is a sunny party song for those fleeting moments when the stars above are just gonna shine. It’s nice to remember a time when we’re not so jaded to dance with our friends in the street. This is the song for those days. Revisit the track below.
