Status: Killing it

Emo rockers Fall Out Boy dominated airwaves in the early ’00s but decided to take a break in the fall of 2009 after releasing their fifth studio album. Fans were rightly worried that the band would never return, especially when you favor in the rumors, misquotes and Patrick Stump’s newly-launched solo project. Wentz swore the band was not on an “indefinite hiatus,” but in 2011, Stump used those words to describe their time away. So what was it?

It was not indefinite. In 2013, Fall Out Boy returned and are bigger than ever. They catered their sound to pop radio while still maintaining the hallmarks of their original sound. The band has since been nominated for Billboard Music Awards and Teen Choice Awards. They even won an MTV VMA.
