Selena Gomez's Droplets Ranked
From 'Fetish' to 'Taki Taki' we rank Selena's batch of stand-alone singles.

Say what you like about Selena Gomez, but she never repeats herself. Instead of bouncing back with a bop or uptempo banger, the pop star returns with an emotional ballad that lays her heart bare. Co-written with Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter and Mattman & Robin, “Lose You To Love Me” is a brutally honest act of closure. “We always go into it blindly, rose-colored glasses all distorted,” the 27-year-old sings over FINNEAS’ bare-bones production. “I saw the signs and I ignored it, I gave my all and they all know it.”

On the chorus, Selena shares the lesson she learned from enduring a toxic relationship. (It’s hard not to play amateur detective and guess who she’s singing about). “We always go into it blindly, I needed to lose you to find me,” the “Back To You” hitmaker belts. “This dancing was killing me softly, I needed to hate you to love me.” Selena share her motivation for the writing the ballad in the press release. “This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album,” the triple threat begins.

“I thought it was important to share the music, as I know many can relate to the fact that the road to self-discovery generally comes through the scars in one’s life. I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself.” Fans have been pining for the first taste of SG2 since 2016 and, miraculously, “Lose You To Love Me” was worth the wait.
