La Roux Plots Comeback
Elly Jackson has been teasing new music from the electronic outfit.

After drip-feeding us teasers and snippets, La Roux returns with her first new single since 2014. “International Woman Of Leisure” finds Elly Jackson (it’s now a solo project) revisiting the disco-tinged electronica that earned her a Grammy in the late ’00s. “No, I never want to see your face again, no, I never want to hear your call,” she sings in her trademark falsetto over tinny synths. “I will not be livin’ in that space again, I will not come knockin’ at your door.”

The female-empowerment anthem really takes flight on the chorus. “‘Cause I’m an international woman of leisure oh, you want me to go on? It’s my pleasure,” Elly declares. “And now I can feel the change in the weather, where I’m going, I know it’s much better.” It’s not as instant as “Bulletproof” or “In The Mood For The Kill,” but “International Woman Of Leisure” (below) is a nice reintroduction to La Roux. The one-woman band’s third LP, Sabotage, drops on February 7, 2020 and will be supported by a world tour. See the dates and get tickets here.
