A star studded group gathered in Miami studio this Memorial Day Weekend to shoot DJ Khaled’s music video for his “All I Do Is Win” remix. The video, directed by Gil Green (DJ Khaled’s “We Takin’ Over” and Rick Ross’ “Everyday I’m Hustlin'”), included a list of stars so long you might mistake the shoot for a second remake of “We Are The World”. Among those on the remixed track and in attendance: Rick Ross, P. Diddy, Fabolous, Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes, Rich Kid, and Harajuku Barbie Nicki Minaj. Flip through to catch all the behind the scenes action and keep an eye out for Cassie who dropped by the set. More »
First, there was Cassie; then, there might have been Rihanna; and then there was an even bigger topless-photo leak. So it was probably only a matter of time before master deriver Lenny Kravitz decided to get in on the act with an “arty” shot of him in the shower, no? Last night, someone leaked a couple of topless shots of the R & & B singer Cassie, who (To the left, a crop of one of the pics; you can check them out in toto here, if you aren’t in an office that frowns on that sort of thing.) Almost immediately after the normal Internet freakouts that always accompany getting to see someone with even the vaguest hint of celebrity unclothed began, Cassie confirmed that yes, it was her in the photos, while taking a second to get mildly peevish about them on Twitter: More »
Big changes are afoot in the Bad Boy universe: the strangely cypher-like singer Cassie has apparently been appointed “first lady” of the label, seemingly pushing aside Faith Evans (where has she been, anyway?). The occasion for said ascent: After countless delays and a head-shaving episode like the one I went through in 11th grade, she has a new single out! “It Must Be Love” a slight bit of R & B that’s delicately wound around a fluttery guitar sample, and it has one “Puff Daddy” filling the obligatory alpha-male role. Yes, those credits do say “Puff Daddy,” which you may remember was the years-ago name of one Sean Combs, the proprietor of Bad Boy who’s gone through aliases like some people go through favorite sweatshirts. What is going on here? Perhaps Mr. Combs is planning on reserving the “Diddy” moniker for his Twitter persona, which has accrued more than half a million followers? Or his adventures with the Arctic Monkeys? Judge for yourself after you hear the track, which is below.
Cassie’s new single, “Official Girl,” eschews the icy minimalism that made “Me & U” such a success, and forces the poor thing to cram as many syllables as possible into each line she sings. More »
The clip for Cassie’s “Is It You?” quotes liberally from Step Up 2: The Streets, which features the singer playing one of the many aspiring stars enrolled in the Maryland School of the Arts. “Is It You?” More »
Thanks to Whudahexup for letting us know that R&B singer Cassie updated her MySpace page with a new track, the where-did-our-love-go? lament “Sometimes.” To quote the inevitable TV Guide review: CHEERS for the multiple harmonies on that chorus! JEERS for producer Ryan Leslie’s rapped cameo! More »
One of our favorite aspects of the start of baseball season, aside from, of course, the games: The possibility of new at-bat songs, those 30-second musical snippets that herald a home-team player’s arrival on the field. Mets third baseman David Wright has been agonizing about his choices for this season during most of Spring Training, and with good reason: How can you improve on the opening skronk-blast of “Brass Monkey,” one of the songs Wright used last year?
Anyway, the Mets have decided to open voting on this matter to the fans, listing 60 songs that will eventually be narrowed down to a final four. While some of the candidates are almost as horrific as “Our Team, Our Time,” we came up with a four-pack that’ll serve David through the season’s doggiest days, and threw in a write-in for good measure:
