One of the many hard-rock name disputes clogging up America’s nightclub rosters ended yesterday, when former Faster Pussycat guitarist Brent Muscat, who’s been leading a more “traditional” hard-rock iteration of the group, decided to drop his fight against ex-lead singer Taime Downe, who has been touring with a sorta-industrial, all-crap version of the band. Muscat’s guitarist speaks:

“Brent Muscat has decided to forego the entire headache of the legalities involved in fighting for the name FASTER PUSSYCAT. After much soul-searching he decided after the European tour and the couple dates this summer that he’s decided to let the other parties carry on with the name.

…”We did a kick-ass tour and the reviews were stellar. The FASTER PUSSYCAT that carries on from here has a lot to live up to.

“I am not bummed. I was the fill-in guitar guy. I got to go to Europe and do a bunch of fun stuff. It was my hope that a more thorough ‘reunion’ would come to fruition out of all this but I don’t know about that. If THE POLICE can reunite I think FP should try someday. It would be great for the fans.

“That said, we will not be at Rocklahoma in July. A FASTER PUSSYCAT will be there, just not this one. Haha. Not sure what the future holds for the five guys in our FASTER PUSSYCAT, but only time will tell.”

Well, it’s nice that the guys made this decision before Rocklahoma–which starts in six days. Here’s hoping that no one is trucking out to Tulsa with the express hope of seeing the whole band reunited and singing a version of “Bathroom Wall” that’s been retrofitted for the festival’s Port-A-Johns.
