Arty farty prog-metal has consistently delivered when it’s come to wack album covers this year, whether it was Coheed And Cambria’s dungeonmaster’s guide or Dream Theater’s mixed signals. Now Queensryche offers a post-apocalyptic advertisement for military-grade breathing apparatus on the sleeve of the band’s forthcoming all-covers album. (Just in case you needed to hear these umlaut-exploiters tackle selections from Jesus Christ Superstar.) On closer inspection, the gas masks are actually branded, and if they’re going to be available at Queensryche shows, the band has upped the merchandising game considerably. Pay attention, emo bands!
