Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble” Video: Watch Her Lose Herself

Taylor Attracts Trouble
Taylor Swift has been teasing her video for “I Knew You Were Trouble” all week (with a little viral help from Selena Gomez, natch), and now the full clip has premiered. As promised, it documents a dramatic fall from grace for Swift (or the character she’s playing, at least, since it’s a widely known fact that she’s basically perfect). It begins with a Hangover-style scene, Taylor waking up in a desert with remnants of last night’s party strewn about. Swift’s voiceover says, “I think when it’s all over, it just comes back in flashes…It all comes back, but he never does.”

We get two minutes of ominous sounds and voiceovers before the chipper opening riff kicks in. It’s an intense video for a dramatic song, and the Anthony Mandler-directed clip is equal parts Lana Del Rey‘s “Ride” and Rihanna‘s “Diamonds” — which makes sense since Mandler helmed those videos, too. Watch it up top.

What do you think of the dark new Taylor? Let us know in the comments, or on Facebook and Twitter.

This video is the bomb! gets the point song the song across and Directed really well! The video kind of captures the tone of the song, and it reminds me a little of The one that got away music video! 8/10 Excellent but… I really miss the old taylor :(

Wow did she really need that somber intro for such a poppy, faux-dubsteppy song? The whole monologue was so laughable and unnecessary considering you know the song is UPBEAT. It worked for Rihanna’s “We Found Love” but it fails miserably here. I get that it weaves into song but really? Sometimes she tries a little too hard and it shows.

i don’t really like taylor swift that much, and cant really listen to her music, but this video was really cool. aside from the fact that the song didn’t really go with the video (wish it was like a rock or punk song) the visual was awesome
