Ed Sheeran has finally opened up about writing Hilary Duff‘s comeback single. “It’s a good song,” the lovable redhead reassured skeptics in a recent interview. The 23-year-old then explained that he made the former teen queen come down to the studio at 1am because it was the only time he had available. Happily, she complied and they “smashed it out in about two hours”.

So, what can we expect from Hil’s return? “Obviously she comes from Lizzie McGuire and that pop world but she’s more grown up now, so it’s more of an adult alternative acoustic sound.” I’m already bored but at this point, I’d be happy with anything. “She’s been gone for so long living family life that I think there are a lot of fans waiting for something new,” concluded Ed in the understatement of the decade.
