American Idol ended on Thursday (April 7) evening with a two-hour bang that included performances — or, in some cases, at least appearances — by a countless army of past contestants, including Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, Fantasia Barrino, Bo Bice, Katharine McPhee, Taylor Hicks, David Cooke, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze and, yes, even William Hung. Even the original judging panel of Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson stepped onto the stage for one last time, in one of the night’s more touching moments.

Of course, someone still had to be crowned the winner of Season 15 before the plug was pulled on Idol (for now). That honor went to 25-year-old Trent Harmon, who triumphed over runner-up La’Porsha Renae.

Amory, Mississippi native Trent nearly fell over on stage when his name was announced, but he managed to pull himself together enough to praise La’Porsha and belt out his winner’s song “Falling” one last time.

The bluesy number is currently soaring at #4 on iTunes in the aftermath of Trent’s big win. Give it a listen below.
