This is not a drill! Pop faves Carly Rae Jepsen and Charli XCX recently hit the studio together.

UPDATE (5/26): Carly Rae Jepsen has officially released “Cut to the Feeling,” off the Leap! official soundtrack. Read the original post, then bask in the song’s glory below.

In March, the Weinstein Company announced that Carly Rae Jepsen, Demi Lovato and Sia contributed music to its next animated film. First released overseas last year as Ballerina, Leap!, was set for a April 21 theatrical premiere before it was pushed back to Labor Day. Way ahead of schedule, though, someone ripped an HQ version of “Cut to the Feeling,” one of two songs by Carly, from the Ballerina Blu-ray.

Despite the voices cutting in and out, the track reconfirms what we already knew: We don’t deserve Carly Rae Jepsen.

“Cut to the Feeling” sounds ripped from the same sessions as E•MO•TION. Which is to say, it is as euphoric as viral hit “Run Away With Me,” including that epic sax solo. Carly is acting impatient, insisting that we cut to the chase and start dancing on the rooftop. Yet its epic, glittering production is the stuff of happy endings, as if we’re living out the romantic moments Carly dreams of.
