AP080315038275.jpgFollowing in the hallowed tradition of Ultragrrrl and, uh, Ultragrrrl, blogger Perez Hilton is still planning to use his acclaimed pulse-fingering talents by starting his own label. “Obviously I have an ear for talent and obviously I have a track record of getting that to translate into sales,” says the music industry’s very own Superman, who promises to do “whatever it takes” to rescue the CD format. What are his novel ideas? Lower prices and “interesting partnerships with companies!” Woah, woah, woah, Perez! Are you sure the music industry is ready for this?

Perez Hilton Breaks Sony BMG Embargo After 24 Hours In Interest Of Self-Promotion

You just know that the “news” of the Sony BMG-signed John Mayer making out with the rainbow-haired gossipeuse is going to result in a directive from the VP of publicity at the company to all the promoters dealing with its male artists, telling them to get their tongues wagging in Perezzers’ general… More »

Perez Hilton To Sony BMG: “Oh, You Bitch!”

AP071206050347.jpgIt’s on now, Sony BMG! Perez Hilton is planning to boycott all Sony BMG artists in response to the lawsuit they’ve filed against the professional canker sore. Perez is unable to understand why Sony BMG is angry that he streamed Britney Spears songs on his site, as the attention he’s given her obviously has helped the sales of Blackout, which has currently sold a quarter of what 2003’s In The Zaa-own pulled. As much as it will pain him not to scribble on the faces of artists such as Britney, R. Kelly, Leona Lewis, and Kenny G, he swears their faces will grace his blog no more. Gasp!

Perez Hilton Gives The Stink Eye To Thom And Trent As Readers Line Up To Be First!!!!1!! To Smack Him Down

AP071231021479.jpgWhoops, I lied! Sorry. Looks like future failed A&R kingpin Perez Hilton has gone and voiced his concerns about the timeliness rumored Lollapalooza headliners Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead with his usual stinging brevity. (Total word count: 23. Total comments thus far: like, a lot.) But if you were expecting Perez’s loyal army of whatever-the-hell-you-call-people-who-read-Perez-Hilton (Perezzies? Please tell me it’s not Perezzies) to stand up to the NIN blog-reading loonies who will invariably descend on the PH comments box to rumble Sharks v. Jets/mods v. rockers/Marlo v. Avon/Mario v. Wario style, guess again. Turns out Perez’s readers are none too happy with their Manic Panic’d, polyester-pants’d Buddha’s sermonizing this time out. In fact, they’re kinda pissy.

Perez Hilton Fiddles While We All Burn

AP071231021479.jpgPerez Hilton will one day be a nice shorthand for something fundamental about these heady years before the economy finally crashes and burns. For now, however, dude is just really annoying.

It is rumored that Amy Winehouse’s debut on the Billboard Top 10 album charts couldn’t have happened without his help — he dedicated more than 30 posts to her talents in the months leading up to her CD’s release.

So OK, this is like Idolator taking credit for American Idol‘s ratings, not to mention the fact that Back To Black sold all of 50,000 units in its first week. But since Perez is the media equivalent of the caricature that makes you realize you have a big nose, this proclamation also points out a flaw in the biz itself.

Perez Hilton’s Imprint With Warner: Slightly Less Wasteful Than Setting A Pile Of Cash On Fire?

AP071231021479.jpgSo you’re Warner Music Group. You’re smarting because your stock price is in the toilet, one of your marquee artists is leaving for heretofore unproven ground, and you’re still pinning your hopes on people eventually remembering that James Blunt exists. Also, you’re still smarting from wasting a bunch of money on a concert-promotion company that wound up being little more than a front for throwing celebrity-studded parties on your dime. So what do you do to turn things around? How about throwing money at a self-obsessed blogger with flattening pageviews, rudimentary MS Paint skills, and a track record of getting more than one percent of his users to buy albums by the artists that he waxes rhapsodically about?

Those of you who enjoy sweating outdoors while listening to poorly amplified music and the natural beauty of Jersey City will be thrilled to know that AEG and Goldenvoice, the promoters of the Coachella Festival, will be putting on a festival at Liberty State Park this summer. More »
