What a wonderful surprise! Only Lady Gaga can go from projectile paint vomit mechanical bull riding at SXSW to a classy jazz soiree in Canada.

Mother Monster made an appearance during legendary crooner Tony Bennett‘s set at Montreal Jazz Festival last night to premiere a few songs off of their forthcoming duets album, Cheek To Cheek — a long-awaited collaborative record in the works for nearly two years now.

The two performed jazz standards, including “But Beautiful” and “Lush Life,” to the roar of an approving audience (applause, plause), allowing Gaga to show off her ever-impressive, powerful chops. She also reportedly told the crowd that their upcoming album “will be the end of the beginning of my career.”

This wasn’t the first time the two debuted new material together, either — the two surprised students at the Frank Sinatra School Of Arts in NYC as well earlier this year.

“I had the time of my life tonight,” she later wrote on Instagram after posting two photos of herself on stage with Bennett. Check out live footage from the set after the jump, and let us know what you think of Gaga’s classic crooning in the comments below.
