Whatcha Say: Madonna, Drake And Selena Gomez Got Our Readers Talking

Bradley Stern | April 17, 2015 6:30 pm

Happy Friday, Idolator readers! You excited for the weekend? The pop news came at a solid pace this week, largely thanks to the first weekend of Coachella.

For the millionth time in career, Queen Of Pop Madonna caused plenty of controversy after her salacious make-out sesh with “Madonna” rapper Drake (and she’s not sorry!), while acts like FKA twigs and Marina And The Diamonds, who also came out for a surprise cameo during Clean Bandit‘s set.

This was truly a week in outspoken women sticking up for themselves: Not only did Madge defend her lip-locking with Drizzy, but P!nk spoke out about the criticism she received for recent photos of herself at a charity event for cancer, while Selena Gomez defended her perfect bikini body. Plus, Britney Spears called out a heckler at her Piece Of Me residency. Ain’t nobody got time for the haters. Keep slaying ’em, ladies!

As always, you guys had plenty to say. Check out the week’s best (and worst) comments below.

:: CA_Dreamin was disappointed in Madge’s move on Madonna And Drake Speak Out About Coachella Make Out Session On Instagram: See Their Posts: “I think it’s sad she has to resort to gimmicks like this to promote a record, seeing as it’s ironically the best one she’s released in a decade. But to each their own………”

:: Sencho thought it was time for M to be over: “Dear Madge, What’s to watch? You haven’t done anything worthy of anyone’s serious attention in a couple decades, but it’s rather difficult to avoid seeing you (even if it’s just by osmosis) when you actively wedge yourself into other people’s headlines. I’d say you’re embarrassing yourself, but you did that so long ago that it hardly bears mentioning at this point. You had a very good run. Thanks for everything. Now please go sit down somewhere, and stop making such a spectacle of yourself. I know you don’t know what it’s like to be embarrassed by your mother’s behavior, but your kids do.”

:: But Joseph quickly came to her defense with an explanation: “That’s her point. Everyone takes the time to write a negative comment about her, how they are embarrassed for her, and she’s saying: Well, this is for you. I hope you enjoy watching me. Now thanks for the publicity.”

:: Mano Dio appreciated Marina‘s honest love for Britney on Marina And The Diamonds Cancelled Her Own Show To Meet Britney Spears At ‘Piece Of Me’: See The Cute Photo: “At least she’s honest about who her idols have been, unlike other current pop specimens much younger than her even who tend to mention people like Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush just to appear most sophisticated than they really are. Britney, Madonna, the Spice Girls, now these would be the idols of someone her age growing up in Britain, because that was what was constantly played on the radio and shown on MTV.”

:: Jay felt bored by Miley’s nipples on Miley Cyrus Did A Nipple-Baring, Crotch-Grabbing Photo Shoot With Mert Alas: 7 NSFW Pics: “I feel like all of this is becoming such a bore and so redundant. Sure, the human body is a beautiful thing, but at this point Miley being fully covered on her Instagram and in photoshoots will be the most shocking of all.”

:: Namnoot was understandably grossed out by the cyber-bullying of Selena on This Has To Stop: Selena Gomez Is Pop Music’s Latest Victim Of Body Shaming: “This is on reason why you won’t see me joining Twitter or Instragram. It’s nothing but a playground for bullies and trolls. To hell with them. Selena won’t care – she’s laughing all the way to the bank – but non-celebs have committed suicide over this sort of thing.”

:: TexasMeterMaid was shaking and crying for new Lambert on Adam Lambert Shares The Cover And A Third Snippet Of “Ghost Town”: Listen: “I have never been so excited about a single release in my life. This song is going to SLAY and nobody deserves it more than Adam. He is the hardest working artist I have ever seen and it is time for him to receive the recognition he deserves. Best voice on the Planet!!!”

:: James F. got nervous for Leona Lewis on Leona Lewis Signs To Def Jam, Unveils The Cover Of Fifth LP ‘I Am’: “This seems like a creative misstep. After the dark, electronic, near-cacophonous brilliance of ‘Glassheart’ it seems a shame to tread ground recently worn by Ella Henderson and directly inspired by that other seminal British chanteuse – Adele. ‘Glassheart’ was an underrated and underpromoted gem of an album which wasn’t near paid its dues. I hope her future endeavors are as impressive and are able to atone for that commercial failure.”

:: Christopher E. couldn’t contain his excitement for a reported Britney-Iggy performance on REPORT: Britney Spears And Iggy Azalea Will Perform “Pretty Girls” At The Billboard Music Awards: “Hell Yeah!!!! Britney needs to bring her A Game like she used to. I have a feeling that Britney will prove why she is the Princess of Pop and hopefully not be a robot or dull pillow fighting songstress of 2011 Billboard Awards. I love Britney and her Infectious dance Pop Music but I want her slaying at the Billboard Awards. Iggy Azalea should help spice things up too!!!”

:: And finally, Marc Side Eye Fisher read between the lines of Sony’s leaked emails about Rita Ora on Sony Email Leaks: Lady Gaga Too “Lame” For ‘Spider-Man’ & Nobody Knows Who Rita Ora Is: “SHAAAAAADDDDDDE!!!!”
