Coldplay, Beyoncé & Bruno Mars Rule 2016 Super Bowl’s Halftime Show: Watch
Santa Clara’s Levi’s Stadium shook with intensity as not one — but three pop acts performed at Super Bowl 50’s halftime show this Sunday (February 7).
Coldplay kicked the event off with a rehashed “Yellow” version as a band filled with young kids circled the UK rockers’ vibrantly-colored stage. They proceeded to rip through a series of hits including 2008’s “Viva La Vida,” “Paradise” and their most recent — “Adventure Of A Lifetime.”
But the musical psychedelic trip soon ended, as Mark Ronson emerged on stage with his DJ set to introduce friend and collaborator — Bruno Mars. The star and his leather-clad crew performed a slick version of “Uptown Funk.” Soon as you though the festivities couldn’t reach bigger heights, Beyonce (who was channeling Michael Jackson‘s 1993 Super Bowl look) and her dancers (who made a powerful statement in their Black Panther-inspired gear) strutted through the field of Levi’s Stadium to perform her weekend surprise track “Formation” as Mars delivered a few lines towards the end for the remixed mash-up.
Coldplay then joined the singers on the field to blast through “Uptown Funk” before heading back onstage for a truly awesome medley of X&Y‘s “Fix You” and A Head Full Of Dreams‘ “Up&Up,” which featured these fitting lyrics: “We’re gonna get it, get it together right now/ Gonna get it, get it together somehow.” The flashes of past iconic Super Bowl moments (like Whitney Houston singing The National Anthem and Prince‘s halftime show) that popped up through the final segment added a nostalgic touch.
