"I don't think a male artist would be in the same position, sorry," Ariana Grande says of Kesha.

You can’t blame Saturday Night Live for trying to get host and musical guest Ariana Grande to do impressions of pop superstars. Since her days at Nickelodeon, she has racked up hundreds of thousands of YouTube views with her impersonations of Shakira, Britney Spears and more, whether for a vlog or, say, The Tonight Show. SNL actually updated its 2012 “Pandora” sketch, where Bruno Mars sang like Michael Jackson and Katy Perry during a power outage so that listeners were none the wiser.

This time the streaming service in need of saving was, naturally, TIDAL. Unfortunately for us all, that means that, along with her go-to impressions of Shakira, Britney and Celine Dion, the “Dangerous Woman” singer was tasked to do Rihanna‘s “Work” — an “opportunity” for SNL to write in that already-tired joke about how no one can understand the Barbadian native’s patois. At least Ariana was a good sport about the whole thing, as she played the shy intern doing Starbucks runs.
