Chris Martin Still Doesn’t Think Coldplay Will Ever Release Another Album

In the months leading up to the release of Coldplay‘s lackluster seventh album A Head Full Of Dreams, frontman Chris Martin began hinting that it could be the band’s last. And in a new interview with Beats 1 host Zane Lowe, he again parroted that thought.

“I’d be surprised if there was another conventional Coldplay album,” he told Lowe. “I just feel like we’re right where we’re supposed to be right now. I meant what I said to you a couple of years ago, I feel like this is a closing chapter of something. I stand by that I’m afraid.”

But it may not mean the end of the band. Just the end of Coldplay as an album band. “I don’t think we’d split up as a band so hopefully we’ll try to work out something to do at some point. But also part of me right now just feels like yeah seven albums, that’s great and they form a kind of circle and they all make sense to me now and I feel really proud of them.”

Anyway, they’re far from done at this point. After headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show earlier this year, they’ve got top billing at Glastonbury this summer.
