Celine Dion’s Pink-Penned “Recovering” Gets Its Live Debut: Watch
Celine Dion couldn’t have picked a more fitting venue for the live debut of her new single.
On September 9, she performed “Recovering” at Stand Up to Cancer 2016, the TV special benefitting cancer research. But first, Celine explained how its unexpected songwriter, Pink, reached out to her, and dedicated the song to her late husband Rene Angelil, along with her late father and brother.
“I miss Rene every day, and the loss will now be a part of my life,” she says. “I also lost my father and my brother Daniel to cancer. A few months ago during my most difficult time of grieving, I received an unexpected gift from an amazing artist that I have always admired: Pink. She offered me a song that expresses the power to stand up and stay strong.”
The live debut of “Recovering” was just as touching, with how Celine’s voice gains strength despite — or, perhaps, because of — its vulnerable lyrics. Watch up top.
