5 Seconds Of Summer: Not just a summer thing, after all!
The Aussie pop-rock troupe has steadily skyrocketed to superstardom over the past year, and it seems that with each passing television appearance, they’ve got more and more achievements building under their collective belts. Currently, the boys are out on tour with One Direction on their massively successful Where We Are Tour, and soon enough, they’ll be heading out on their own Rock Out With Your Socks Out headlining tour in 2015.
This morning, 5SOS dropped by Good Morning America to perform two of their biggest hits: “Amnesia” and “She Looks So Perfect.” As per usual, the troupe rocked out in front of a squealing crowd of fans, supplying an energetic performance (in a rather tiny space!), playfully joking around with each other and generally just living it up on stage together.
Check out the boys performing “Amnesia” up top, “She Looks So Perfect” down below, and let us know what you thought in the comments.
Cheryl — formerly known as Cheryl Cole, now known as Cheryl Fernandez-Versini…or just Cheryl at the moment! — is preparing for a second round this year. And, guess what? She doesn’t care about it!
After serving up her horn-heavy summer UK #1 smash “Crazy Stupid Love,” the Girls Aloud solo darling is back with a brand new single from her forthcoming fourth studio LP, tentatively titled Only Human.
“I Don’t Care” will officially be released to radio tomorrow, according to Chezza’s reveal of the cover art from earlier this afternoon. “Here you gooo!!!! #idontcare you can hear it’s first play on radio from 8am tomorrow morning,” she wrote. To no one’s surprise, she looks positively radiant on the single artwork — and yes, she doesn’t look like she has a care in the world. More »
Yesterday brought news that pop-house act Clean Bandit and singer Jess Glynne had reunited for upcoming single “Real Love,” a follow-up to their global smash “Rather Be.” But let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet, as the latter song is still climbing the American charts. Given that, Glynne joined UK quartet Clean Bandit on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, thus marking her television debut in the States. (During a recent performance on Good Morning America, vocalists Elisabeth Troy and Florence Rawlings took on Glynne’s parts of the song.)

Nicole Scherzinger is gearing up for the release of her sophomore LP Big Fat Lie, and the first single – called “Run” – has arrived. We first posted the radio rip earlier this month, but now the official version is here.
The song, which is produced by Tricky Stewart and The-Dream, is a heartfelt, piano-based ballad that contrasts Scherzinger’s usual upbeat pop tunes like “Your Love” and “Don’t Hold Your Breath.”
Listen to “Run” after the jump, and look out for Big Fat Lie on October 20. More »
NYC rising songstress-turned-blogosphere darling VÉRITÉ has certainly been making a name for herself as of late, having already supplied two rich, hook-filled pop offerings thus far: “Weekend,” and the creeping “Strange Enough.”
Today, the singer debuts her third track to date: “Echo,” which will also be the title track from her forthcoming debut EP, available on October 20.
With its layered vocals, textured beats and pounding drums, the new song conjures elements of experimental electronic artists like Imogen Heap and Oh Land. Fittingly, given the name of the song, it’s also a repetitive little ditty: “I can hear the echo,” she repeats over and over through the stomping track, adding even more goodness to her increasingly solid mini-repertoire.

Ready for some hella good news? Gwen Stefani is currently in Miami with producer/fellow Voice coach Pharrell Williams, working to wrap up the recording of her third solo album, said her manager Irving Azoff during a panel at New York’s Advertising Week yesterday (per Billboard). In a separate chat, Interscope chariman John Janick told Billboard that Stefani’s LP will be executive-produced by Benny Blanco, and could be out in December.
Yesterday Azoff added that Gwen will select the lead single off the album sometime next week, and will perform it later in the season on The Voice. That contradicts recent reports that a song called “Baby Don’t Lie” had already been slated for an October release. More »
Each month, we’re taking a look back at the albums that piqued our pop interest, pitting them against each other and then asking you to decide which album ultimately ruled.
It’s that time again: The “Best Of” Ibrawlator for September! Last month, art-pop purveyor from down under Kimbra dazzled our readers, resulting in a crowning victory for her daring and ambitious The Golden Echo.
And now, it’s time to take a look back and reflect on the best pop records of September. More »
Pharrell partners up with Takashi Murakami on the new video for “It Girl,” the latest single from his sophomore LP G I R L. The famous Japanese pop artist produced the visual, which is an anime-inspired adventure – complete with overly pixelated imagery, neon-colored pop-up text, cartoon illustrations and classic video game scenes.
The Fantasista Utamaro-directed video finds Pharrell on a psychedelic joyride, as he follows a group of teenage Japanese anime schoolgirls to the beach. Towards the end, they all take off on – get this – a dolphin spaceship. It’s a little pervy, totally nostalgic (catch the Pokemon references!), and very cool! More »
Calvin Harris is currently riding high in the charts around the globe with John Newman-featuring single “Blame,” but behind the scenes he’s already on to the next one. Above you’ll find a snap the Scottish dance producer posted on his Instagram from what appears to be the set of a video shoot for a song called “Slow Acid.” Emil Nava, who lensed Harris’ “Summer” and “Blame” videos earlier this year, is the director listed on the clapboard, and, well, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see where this all leads to. (For instance, who might be lending their pipes to the song, if not Calvin himself?) More »
