Iggy Azalea Is Sick Of The Internet
Iggy posted an article called "I've Come To Hate So Much Of The Internet" on Twitter last night.

Earlier in the week, Eve and Jill Scott appeared on Sway Calloway’s Sway In the Morning radio show, where they were promoting their new movie, With This Ring. The conversation took a different turn when Sway asked the women about their feelings on Iggy Azalea and cultural appropriation, a hot button issue causing everyone from Azealia Banks to T.I. to speak out.

“At the end of the day, I get it. I get that people might be upset about certain things. Yeah, she’s white, but they grew up with our s–t! You know what I’m saying? Hip-hop is everywhere. Every neighborhood. Ever country. Every city. Yes, it’s from us and it’s our thing, but…she’s representing a group of girls right now as well. I think people right now are too quick to give too many accolades to new people. That’s the one thing I just can’t stand, but let her do her thing. It’s not my cup of tea, but she’s representing for somebody,” Eve started to explain.

“To me, it’s a mixture of Da Brat and Eve, the way that it sounds, so that’s a little challenging for me…that’s the only thing that stops me. I know where that comes from. It sounds like a big bite to me. The tone,” Jill Scott explained. “The blaccent,” Eve clarified, adding: “Is that horrible? I’m just saying. Listen, a lot of people are gonna get mad about it. F–k it. I’m just saying…she’s from a different place. I’ve said this before. It would be dope to hear HER with her swag. What are you? Who are you? What is that?” More »

Daytime titan Ellen DeGeneres turned 57 on Monday (January 26), and past guests on her talk show have been helping her celebrate in person or, at very least, sending her video messages all week. Pop troublemaker Justin Bieber, whose very first US TV appearance ever was on Ellen many moons ago, went one step further by surprising the birthday girl with a visit. Bieber admitted on air that he was nervous about setting foot on a talk show stage for the first time in over a year: “I just get nervous in front of crowds when I’m not singing, because I’m naturally like a performer.”

Well, there’s that and the fact that he’s made a multitude of headlines in recent years for his legal troubles, rather than his music. More »

Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett, Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani & more join the roster.

Justin Bieber is changing himself for the better — well, that’s what he wants you to believe anyway. Straight after his surprise appearance on Ellen Degeneres yesterday (January 28), the singer posted a video to his Fahlo account that found him more vulnerable than we’ve seen him in recent times.

In the short, dimly-lit clip, Bieber apologizes to his fans for his wannabe bad boy behavior over the past year — alleged robbery, egging houses, racist jokes, fighting with other actors…the list goes on.

“I was afraid of what people are thinking about me right now. It’s been a minute since I’ve been in a public appearance and I didn’t want to come off arrogant or conceited, or basically how I’ve been acting in the past year, year-and-a-half,” Bieber states in the video. “I’m not who I was pretending to be. Often we pretend to be something we’re not as a cover up of what we’re truly feeling inside, and there was a lot of feelings going on in there.” More »

Miley Cyrus and Madonna have become fast friends over the past few years, from duetting on Miley’s Unplugged special to trading fan edits galore on Instagram. The question is: Will these two finally team up on record?

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Bangerz diva opened up (ever so slightly) about her forthcoming LP: “I’m trying, babe. I’m trying to get this stuff out…it’s coming. I’m in the studio every day at my house. I got all of it. I’m still writing. So much is still happening in my life. Just when I think I have m record done, something new happens where I want to write about it.”

And when pressed her for details regarding a potential Madonna collaboration on the horizon, she didn’t exactly confirm anything, but she did acknowledge that they’ve done “something”: “We’ll see. I know everyone wants it. We did something earlier in the year. We’ll get back at it, for sure.”

UPDATE: Kanye West has uploaded the full (non-embeddable) video on his website, click here to watch.

Kanye West stopped by the Ellen Degeneres Show yesterday (January 28) for a very anticipated appearance — and he sure did deliver! The entertainer premiered the preview video for “Only One,” a touching ballad that tributes ‘Ye’s late mother Donda. Directed by Spike Jonze (“Flashing Lights,” “Otis”), the clip shows a more vulnerable side to the usually unattainable rapper. It stars his daughter, North West, as they hang out together on a field during one rainy day.

West revealed to Ellen that it will appear on his forthcoming seventh LP, which is still as yet untitled. “This transition from what I felt when I did Yeezus to what I feel now and we’re just creating,” he said. After releasing the video, he chatted with the host about working on more kids with wife Kim Kardashian, and that they’re very happy in their marriage. Grammy Awards Producer Regrets 2012 Nicki Minaj Performance: Morning Mix

Roman's Revenge

Did You Hear?

:: Remember that tragic night three years ago when Nicki Minaj destroyed our eyes and ears with her religion-themed Grammy performance of “Roman Holiday”? Well, the awards are now saying they’re sorry. Show producer Ken Elrich regrets booking the rapper for that night. “I was not proud of what we did with Nicki Minaj three years ago. I thought that was a disappointment both in terms of what we did and to an extent what she did,” he said. Yikes! [PopDust]

:: Heads up, College Park! 2 Chainz would like to run for mayor of the Georgia city. He told Buzzfeed news that he is actually considering the position: “I got everybody wishing. I’m really gonna do this little mayor thing in College Park. I’m just trying to make sure I have the right qualifications,” he said. TRUUU!! [Buzzfeed]

:: Kenny G is the main behind the infamous Starbucks Frappuccino drink — well, that’s what he wants you to think. In an interview with Bloomberg, the jazz saxophonist joked that he’s responsible for the coffee creation. “At the beginning, Starbucks didn’t have anything but coffee. And there was another company, Coffee Bean, that had something called “blended” that was a sweet drink, and people were lined up around the block,” he explained. “And I would always call Howard and say, ‘Howard, there’s this thing that they do there that’s like a milkshake or whatever’.” [Stereogum]

:: J. Cole is giving back to his community in another big way. The rapper wants to create rent-free housing for single mothers in — get this — his newly-reformed childhood house in Fayetteville, North Carolina. How awesome is that? [Huffington Post]

Future Hit: The Avener’s European Smash “Fade Out Lines” Gets An American Release

Deeper Down
Future Hit: AronChupa's "I'm An Albatraoz"
Future Hit: AronChupa's "I'm An Albatraoz"
AronChupa's mind-boggling dance anthem "I'm An Albatraoz" is coming to America. Get ready.

The Avener‘s self-titled EP finally arrived in America last week via Republic Records. It includes the French DJ’s global smash “Fade Out Lines,” which has already wreaked havoc on charts across Europe and Australia. With similarly low-key Euro-house anthems (Robin Schulz‘s remixes of “Waves” and “Prayer In C” spring to mind) doing damage on the Billboard Hot 100, the chance of Tristan Casara (his real name) repeating that success stateside has to be fairly high.

A deep house remix of an obscure Phoebe Killdeer & The Short Straws track called “The Fade Out Line,” The Avener’s earworm is as French as a thickly buttered baguette with its chic synths, sexy vocal and less-is-more approach. The result is brooding dance anthem that works just as well in a club or blasting from the car radio on your way to work. Watch the distinctly European video up top and see the rising producer’s EP tracklist after the jump. More »
