Jim Carrey Makes Iggy Azalea Nervous In ‘Saturday Night Live’ Promo Clip: Watch

Working On Their Sh-t

Iggy Azalea laughs nervously in a promo clip for Saturday Night Live. This isn’t the I-G-G-Y of Reclassified‘s lead single “Beg for It,” where she boasts of her self-worth as the hottest female rapper out (“P-ssy power, pay me by the hour”). Instead, she’s forced to reckon with guest host Jim Carrey as the ever-cartoonish comedian tries saying her name in various voices, contort his face as he would in The Mask and even pose as a rapper, complete with chains and a grill.

It’s okay, Iggy – no one quite knows how to best handle Jim Carrey. More »

Justin Bieber Is As Moody As Can Be In Khalil’s “Playtime” Video

He Isn't Playing

Justin Bieber stars in Khalil‘s new video for “Playtime,” which was released on October 24. While the two friends sing quietly, if not listlessly, about a deteriorating relationship, the Journals superstar is especially moody as he roams an empty building in Toronto.

“Such a waste of time / There’s no need to fight / We could spend that time laughing / ’cause we got no more times for arguments,” Bieber sings, in three different scenes of him covering his head with his hands. Later he glides through a few dance moves, though he doesn’t crack a smile until he and Khalil draw a crowd at a town square. More »

See What May Be Rihanna’s Eighth Album Title, Tracklist And Release Date

Lost Files?

Rihanna‘s eighth album may arrive next month, if a leaked photo is to be believed.

Here’s the story: DJ Envy, co-host of Power 105′s The Breakfast Club, found what appears to be an official document from Rihanna’s label RocNation, detailing her new album. The title? Lost Files. The release date? November 25. The standard edition would feature 14 songs and appearances by Nicki Minaj, Drake, Big Sean and Eminem.

Other artists have talked about their involvement in Rihanna’s eighth album, the follow-up to 2012′s Unapologetic. DJ Mustard was the first to do so, back in January. As of late, though, the release still appeared to be a work in progress. Rihanna reunited with songwriter Ester Dean in the studio. Meanwhile, Charli XCX said that she was writing for the enduring pop star, too.

The most promising sign that the leaked photo is authentic is its mention of “Barz,” featuring Minaj. Last spring on social media, Rihanna teased the woeful lyrics: “Your silver tongue is full of lies, with tricks and thrills and Bambi eyes.” And after thorough investigation, the Navy concluded that either the The Pink Print star or Keri Hilson was involved.

See the rumored tracklist for Rihanna’s next album below. More »

Whatcha Say: Gwen Stefani, Mariah Carey And Jennifer Lopez Got Our Readers Talking

What a week in pop!

With 1989 just days away, it’s been all Taylor Swift all the time: From “Welcome To New York,” to Target commercials, to secret sessions and everything in between. So! Much! Taylor! But Tay’s not the only artist with new stuff out: Gwen Stefani made her grand comeback with “Baby Don’t Lie”! Plus, Sound Of A Woman siren Kiesza kept us dancing through the week, while Jessie Ware came in for a softer approach on the gorgeous Tough Love.

At the same time, Mariah Carey notched yet another achievement with her current China tour and Jennifer Lopez is all-but-confirmed for Vegas.

Around here, we premiered t.A.T.u. darling Lena Katina‘s “Who I Am” video, celebrated the 20th anniversary of Madonna‘s under-appreciated Bedtime Stories and spoke to Jasmine V and Kiesza. Phew!

As per usual, you guys had plenty to say. Check out the week’s best comments after the jump. More »

Aretha Franklin’s Cover Of Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep” Gets A Wideboys Remix: Listen To The Dance Overhaul

Aretha Franklin‘s mash-up of Adele‘s “Rolling In The Deep” and Motown classic “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” went viral after the legendary soul singer performed it on the Late Show With David Letterman. Commentators didn’t have a lot of nice things to say about her performance or ensemble but I think it’s an unfathomably entertaining trainwreck that demands multiple viewings.

I feel the same way about the seemingly unnecessary remix package. There’s something so wrong about a soaring house remix of an Adele ballad performed by Aretha Franklin that just makes it more fun. Wideboys do the best job of turning the lead single from Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics into a furious floorfiller. Jeremih Taps Rick Ross For The Latest “Don’t Tell ‘Em” Remix: Listen

Jeremih is currently riding high on the Billboard Hot 100 with irresistible hook-up anthem “Don’t Tell ‘Em”. (It remains steady this week at number six). Produced by DJ Mustard, the catchy club banger is unavoidable at radio and has been soundtracking parties for months due to its sexy lyrics — it brought “Twitter pussy” to the mainstream — and arguably the catchiest hook of 2014.

The song has already received a Spanglish remix courtesy of Pitbull but the 27-year-old takes the song in an edgier direction by inviting Rick Ross to contribute a rap. Teflon Don, who recently lost an astonishing amount of weight, keeps it surprisingly clean — bragging about his swag instead. Thankfully, there’s also room for YG‘s verse because it makes the song. Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett Rehearse “Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered” At The Cirque Royal: Watch

Jazz Gaga

Here’s a classy way to pass the time on your Friday afternoon. Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett have released some rehearsal footage from their Cirque Royal performance and it’s fascinating stuff. Mother Monster, who rocks a Cleopatra-evoking black bob and golden robe, belts out Cheek To Cheek international bonus track “Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered”, while her duet partner watches on.

The ARTPOP diva gives it her all in the mesmerizing solo performance, belting out the 1940s show tune in fine style. It’s surprising this was left off the US edition because it it really is lovely. (That probably had something to do with Rod Stewart and Cher covering it semi-recently on the rocker’s Great American Songbook 2 album).  If you haven’t had the chance to check out Gaga’s version yet, make sure to watch it up top. Leighton Meester Randomly Dropped A Surprisingly Good Album: Stream ‘Heartstrings’ In Full

Leighton Meester was a hot pop property for a minute in 2009. The actress was riding a wave of popularity thanks to her role on hit teen drama Gossip Girl and had a top 10 entry on the Billboard Hot 100 courtesy of a feature on Cobra Starship‘s “Good Girls Go Bad”. She got to work on her debut album for Universal Republic and released a couple of singles — most notably the Robin Thicke-assisted urban-pop jam “Somebody To Love” — but the project was never released.

Five years later, the 28-year-old is releasing her much-delayed LP without much fanfare. Fans expecting more of the club-friendly pop she first dabbled in will be surprised by the contemplative folk sound of Heartstrings. It’s gentle singer/songwriter fare that evokes images of small town America. There are a couple of dark twists, giving the album an occasional Lana Del Rey-type quality.
