At this Sunday’s (August 24) MTV Video Music Awards, Pharrell will be the one male facing off against female pop forces Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, Iggy Azalea and Sia in the Video Of The Year category. And of course we all know those names today, but who remembers that Panic! At The Disco once waltzed away from the VMAs with a Video Of The Year moonman? Or what song Green Day nabbed the award for in 2005? Or what year Britney Spears emerged victorious in the category?
Ahead of the latest staging of MTV’s annual extravaganza, we decided to flash back through the past decade, all the way back to 2004, to refresh our memories on exactly which artists and songs won the big prize on VMAs night. We then compiled snippets of all the winning clips into one two-and-a-half-minute video, which you can watch above. More »
Birdy‘s “Skinny Love” has certainly provided the songstress some extended mileage. Although her Bon Iver cover first surfaced nearly three years ago, the singer-songwriter has only continued to see success from the track, unveiling a brand new video for the tune as recently as January.

Maroon 5 had a somewhat sizable summer hit with “Maps,” and with that one now falling down the Billboard Hot 100, they’ve unleashed another track off upcoming LP V (out September 2) in the form of “Animals.” The song was co-written by M5 frontman Adam Levine along with frequent collaborators Benny Blanco and Shellback, and it finds Levine crooning over a repetitious guitar riff and hip hop beat, “Baby, I’m preying on you tonight, hunt you down, eat you alive / just like animals.”
So basically, more sexed-up innuendo from Adam & Co. Paw at the lyric video for “Animals” above. More »
According to sneak-peek video footage E! grabbed of the seating arrangements at this Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, Miley Cyrus will be perched right between Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry. That should prove to be interesting for all involved, considering Nicki appeared to be irked when Miley co-opted her racy “Anaconda” single art earlier this month, slapped her own head on it (twice) and retitled it “Hannah Conda” — something that prompted Nicki to respond with, “Give me one good reason why Miley made this her twitter avi”. Children, today we’re going to let The Weeknd show you all about the birds and the bees. You see that video above? Well, when you watch it you’ll notice that sometimes the Daddy likes to go to book a hotel room and get high as fuck, because he thinks that’s what people want to watch for four minutes in lieu of a video that might actually be entertaining on some level. And then, the Daddy likes to rent a bunch of Mommys to come over to his room so he can get on top of them for 42 seconds before vomiting on the lamp and passing out.
Then all the Hooker Mommys put their fingers in the Daddy’s wallet while he’s sleeping to try to steal the cash he’s always bragging about having, but surprise — it’s flopsville! More »
Doesn’t it seem like Flo Rida chucks a song out every other week or so? No? Yes? Green? Chinchilla?
Anyway, here’s Flo Rida chucking out a new song called “GDFR” — it stands for “going down for real” — which features Sage The Gemini and the really classy line “girls getting wetter than Katrina.” Sorry, fellas, but it’s always going to be too soon the exploit a colossal tragedy for a lyric in your dumb-as-shit waste of three minutes passing itself off as music.
Anyway, Flo or whoever produced this racket left no kitchen sink out of the mix: We’ve got horns! We’ve got a trap beat! We’ve got one of these bozos singing just like that guy Wanz‘s “I’m gonna pop some tags” bit from Macklemore‘s “Thrift Shop” — practically note for note! How can you resist? Listen below! More »
