I don’t think anyone knows what’s going on with Beyonce‘s pioneering visual album at the moment. “Pretty Hurts” came and went without as much as a television performance (I’m still mad!) and then she randomly dropped that messy “***Flawless” remix with Nicki Minaj in the middle of night before going back to dusting her Grammys.
“***Flawless” is scheduled to impact rhythmic radio this week and Queen Bey will perform at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards, so I guess we’ll know more then. In the meantime, check out The Thin Red Men remix of “Pretty Hurts”. It’s a little on the camp side but that works well with the song’s divalicious lyrics. Listen after the jump. More »
Iggy Azalea and Ariana Grande make history by landing three songs (each) in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 this week. The only other female artists to achieve this rare feat are Adele in 2012 (“Set Fire To The Rain”, “Rolling In The Deep” and “Someone Like You”) and Ashanti, believe it or not, in 2002 (“Foolish”, “Always On Time” and “What’s Luv?”).
Their hit collaboration “Problem” is still sitting pretty at number seven, while Iggy’s summer-ruling smash “Fancy” hangs around at number five. She also scores a new entry with Rita Ora-assisted revenge anthem “Black Widow”, which lands at number eight. As for Ari? “Break Free” bullets to number four and her feature on Jessie J‘s “Bang Bang” rounds out the top 10. See the full chart after the jump. More »
Britney Spears is serious about the lingerie business. She’s already spent more time promoting The Intimate Collection than her most personal album Britney Jean and continues to delight the interwebs with amazingly airbrushed images that evoke the glamor (and fantasy) of Mariah Carey‘s last three album covers. It’s completely over-the-top but I’m strangely here for it.
Take the pop icon’s latest promo picture. Britney models pajamas in a room so softly lit you can barely make out the furniture. And that’s fair enough — every diva wants to look their best — but what’s with the ultra-soft lens and bizarre Photoshop on her nose? See the full image (as well as one of the 32-year-old modeling sexy pink lingerie) after the jump. More »
Miley Cyrus has been writing and recording songs with The Flaming Lips for the follow-up to Bangerz. The oft-nude diva has admitted as much in past interviews but many fans and commentators never expected the joint-project to see the light of day. They could be in for a big surprise, according to the band’s composer/guitarist Steven Drozd.
“We’re going to try to make a record with her if we can work this out because we’ve gotten together with her a few times in a recording studio and she’s fucking badass,” he said in a recent interview. “She’s a total pro and sings like a bird. She’s very patient and did take after take and was totally laid back,” the Electric Würms mastermind raved. “I’m hoping that we can help her make a record that she wants to make for the next phase of her career.” More »
That “Bang Bang” promo keeps coming!
After Jessie J spilled the beans on a “Bang Bang” performance at the 2014 MTV VMAs alongside Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande, the trio just popped up in a brand new commercial for Beats By Dr. Dre.
The three superstar divas all take turns flaunting their generally glam lives to the tune of “Bang Bang,” from Jessie J stepping into a souped up ride, to Ari getting ready at a video shoot, to Miss Minaj casually stepping out into a helicopter — y’know, as pop divas generally do. The ad sells a whole bunch of products, including the Pink Pill XL, the Pink Mixr and, of course “Bang Bang.” Get those coins, girls!

You want a piece of Madonna? For a pretty penny, that’s exactly what you’ll get.
Julien’s Auctions announced yesterday that they’ll be holding an auction for “the largest collection of Madonna memorabilia from her personal and professional life ever” in November, including music video wardrobes, awards, handwritten personal notes — even financial documents.
So, what’s up for grabs? Lots! Highlights include the recent B-Day Girl’s S&M-inspired wardrobe from her V Magazine shoot with Katy Perry, Re-invention Tour costume pieces and nude photos from her Penthouse Magazine shoot. They’ve also got handwritten notes on tour choreography, working lyrics, as well as trophies from several award shows over the years, including the MTV Video Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards.
And, if you really want to immerse yourself in all things Ciccone, there’s a personal make-up compact, a 1972 Junior High School yearbook — and even a 1988 day planner (that’s while she was recording Like A Prayer!), which includes “dates with then-husband Sean Penn as well as birthday reminders and holiday plans.” More »
