The Atlantic Records register gets a little more fabulous with each passing day. Romanian dance diva Inna signed to the label recently and today (April 24), British babe Katy Tiz followed suit. Her new single “The Big Bang”, a cover of a relatively obscure Rock Mafia song with a very famous video (more about that later), is exploding at pop radio and making inroads on the iTunes download chart.
The London-based songbird first made waves in late 2012 with feisty debut single “Famous” before returning in 2013 with RedOne-produced party anthem “Red Cup”. Neither track really connected but it’s a case of third time lucky with “The Big Bang”. Interestingly, the original version of the song is well known to Smilers. The video starred Miley Cyrus and features on the soundtrack to her awesomely bad movie LOL. Listen to Katy’s catchy interpretation after the jump. More »
Miley Cyrus has been released from hospital. The “We Can’t Stop” diva has been bedridden since April 16 when she suffered a severe allergic reaction to sinus infection medication. As a result of the illness, the 21-year-old was forced to cancel the remainder of her US Bangerz tour dates. Those dates have been now been moved to August.
It looks like the hitmaker’s international fans won’t suffer a similar inconvenience. The singer has confirmed that she will commence the European leg of her tour on May 2 as planned. The fact that the first show is in Amsterdam (where her favorite herb is legal) is a happy coincidence. Welcome back, Miley! The internet has been boring without you. More »
Lorde isn’t the first diva that springs to mind when you think of make-up, which is probably why her association with MAC works so well. The Kiwi diva unveiled the first taste of her campaign with the cosmetics giant and she looks genuinely stunning with her long flowing locks and trademark scowl.
The 17-year-old’s dark plum lipstick is called ‘Pure Heroine’ after her similarly-titled debut LP and retails for the bargain price of $16. It speaks volumes for Lorde’s standing and popularity that she can juggle this kind of endorsement with being a relatively tortured artist. So, what are you waiting for fashion-forward ladies (and gents)? See the full poster after the jump. More »
Michael Jackson‘s second posthumous release Xscape finally has an official tracklist. And it’s surprisingly brief. The album (out May 13) only contains eight songs but the deluxe edition is rumored to include a bonus disc with MJ’s original demos. Two as-yet unspecified video clips will also be available to download from iTunes.
The collection is a little underwhelming given that much of the album has already leaked in one form or another. “Chicago” (also known as “She Was Loving Me”) has been online for a couple of years, while anti-child abuse anthem “Do You Know Where Your Children Are” has been around for almost as long. Timbaland-produced “Slave To The Rhythm” made the cut, as did the recently leaked title track. See the official standard tracklist after the jump. More »
Beyonce‘s gut-wrenching “Pretty Hurts” video premiered on VEVO today (April 24) to coincide with the diva’s history-making Time cover. If you own Bey’s pioneering visual album, you already know how emotionally devastating the Melina Matsoukas-directed visual is. If you don’t, grab some tissues and prepare to get deep in your feelings.
The beauty pageant-themed mini-movie packs a hefty punch. Beyonce plays Miss 3rd Ward, a troubled contestant with an eating disorder and the simple desire to be happy. She gives a genuinely moving performance and the video delivers an important message about self-acceptance. Given that we posted the clip way back in December, I’ve pulled together the 10 most-heartbreaking moments to guide newcomers through the “Pretty Hurts” experience. Warning: there are spoilers ahead.
