Bad news for Lorde fans in the Bay Area: You won’t be hearing “Royals” any time soon.
For those who aren’t entirely caught up on the whole baseball thing, the San Francisco Giants are heading to the World Series this week against the Kansas City…Royals. Uh oh! Superstitiously, San Fran’s radio stations are blacklisting Lorde’s big hit — at least until the series is over.
According to a series of tweets from radio stations, including KFOG and KOIT, “Royals” isn’t being put into rotation during the series. From Billboard: “‘Why send any positive vibes to Kansas City?’ KFOG’s program director Jim Richards told NBC Bay Area. ‘Why not give the song a rest? No one is going to get hurt over it.’” To be fair, the song has been played to death on radio ever since last year — a little break probably wouldn’t hurt. (We’re assuming Kansas City is about to majorly make up for those SF spins, anyway.)

Gwen Stefani‘s comeback single “Baby Don’t Lie,” is a tame re-introduction back to the industry for the No Doubt front runner. But a preview of a new song has popped up, and it definitely packs the right punch. Titled “Spark The Fire,” the song finds Stefani returning back to her Love.Angel.Music.Baby. roots as she shouts in her unique tone:“Who got the lighter?/Let’s spark the fiyah!!/Who got the lighter?”
The singer’s commanding vocals (she’s rapping!) combined with the song’s percussion-heavy production filled with “Ting!” sound effects (courtesy of longtime collaborator Pharrell), sounds like a winner that will re-energize the pop world as Q4 wraps up. Listen to a brief snippet after the jump.
Last year Restless Road formed on the US version of The X Factor, under the guidance of Simon Cowell. The country-pop trio wound up in fourth place by the end of the series’ third season, and earlier this month, they found themselves reuniting with onetime X Factor judge Demi Lovato by opening for her and Christina Perri in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Moline, Illinois.
“Being able to perform on the same stage as Demi and Christina in itself was an amazing experience,” the guys tell Idolator. “We’re huge fans of both of their work. But going into the tour, we weren’t sure how a pop audience would receive our music with us being a country-rooted act. But as soon as we started performing, the crowd immediately started getting into it and having a good time.”
Today we’re premiering a gallery of exclusive backstage photos from their shows with Demi and Christina that the guys provided us, which you can flip through above. (You might notice that a new member, Jared Kleim, has replaced Colton Lane Pack since the band were on The X Factor.) And below, is a short Q&A with did with the three of them — Jared, Andrew Sholz and Zachary Beeken — where they discuss their upcoming album and some of their biggest music influences. More »
After penning monster hits (literally) for other artists, Bebe Rexha is about to wreak some chart damage of her own with killer debut single “I Can’t Stop Drinking About You”. The soaring electro-pop anthem has been warmly embraced by pop radio and is steadily climbing iTunes. It’s also getting a lot of love in clubs thanks to an epic remix by The Chainsmokers.
The NYC duo, who dropped unavoidable floorfiller “#Selfie” earlier this year, sure know how to turn a pop song into perfect club fodder. (See their remixes of Chromeo‘s “Jealous” and Bastille‘s “Flaws” for further evidence). Their balls-to-the-wall overhaul now gets a dramatic, neon light-drenched video that gives you a whole new appreciation for Bebe’s breakthrough hit. Start your week off right by watching it up top. When Gwen Stefani and Fergie announced their return to music as solo artists a few months ago, the pop world shook with excitement. While Fergie’s bland “L.A. Love (La LA)” wasn’t the banger we expected, Stefani’s new single “Baby Don’t Lie” finds the singer embracing the reggae-inspired sound that we’ve all come to love over the years.
The song officially premiered yesterday (October 19), and we wrote “‘Uh huh, here we go,’ Stefani says, and to this rubbery bass line and hand claps – this club-ready setting suggesting a sequel to the Pharrell-produced smash ‘Hollaback Girl.‘ Instead, ‘Baby Don’t Lie’ mellows out into a mid-tempo pop song.” Did other music critics enjoy Stefani’s comeback single? Read on below to find out! More »
This shit is still B-A-N-A-N-A-S, and life continues to be pretty G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S, yes.
After nearly a decade in between their last solo records, No Doubt frontwoman/solo pop legend Gwen Stefani and Black Eyed Peas chanteuse/solo pop legend Fergie have both made their grand return in the past few weeks.
They both armed with big bangers, too: Fergie dropped it down to the club and gave the entire world a shout out for her DJ Mustard-produced “L.A. Love (La La),” while Gwen scooped up Ryan Tedder and Benny Blanco to craft her super catchy cut, “Baby Don’t Lie.”
But between the two divas, which one pulled off a more successful comeback single? We want you to decide. Head down below to vote. More »

Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne team up again in the video for “Real Love.” The visual is an ode to – what else? – couples who are madly in love. Jack Patterson, the video’s director, keeps it simple as Glynne and Clean Bandit perform the song in a stark recording studio. But soon as the chorus kicks in, the performers transport to a brightly-lit stage at the Los Angeles’ El Rey theater. Throughout the video, various couples show their adoring affection towards each other.
“Real Love” is the latest single from the UK electronic-pop band‘s upcoming re-release of their debut album New Eyes. They previously collaborated with Jess Glynne for the summer smash, “Rather Be.” More »
There really is no escape when Taylor Swift chucks out a new album, is there? The woman is either topping charts (see: “Shake It Off”), putting out new songs before the single has even cooled off ( “Out Of The Woods”), teasing lyrics to even more tracks and hopping countries to ensure the media blitz sticks. The latest invasion took place when Swift hauled herself down to Australia and performed on The X Factor.
“Shake It Off” has already hit #1 on the country’s ARIA pop chart, and so tireless Taylor’s energetic performance was simply insurance for parent album 1989 following suit upon its release. More »
