Austin Mahone‘s debut album was originally scheduled for release in October last year but it was pushed back to mid-2015. To be fair, the 18-year-old has released two EPs (including The Secret) but fans are thirsty for more and aren’t afraid to let him know it. The YMCMB signee responded to questions about the delay on Twitter and revealed that he’s still working on the opus. “I don’t wanna rush it and then put out a single that doesn’t do well,” he explained.
“I wanna take time to make sure that I have some incredible, next level, monster smashes that I can release and feel good about,” Austin continued. “And believe me I’ve got some crazy songs that are potential next singles but i want to be sure. I’m going to LA in Feb. To finish my first album once and for all.” The teen superstar’s last single “Mmm Yeah” was his highest charting song yet — reaching number 49 on the Billboard Hot 100. After switching things up with upbeat pop anthem “Burning Gold,” Christina Perri returns to familiar ground on the latest single from underrated sophomore LP Head or Heart. Another sparse, haunting piano ballad (she has the genre on lock), “The Words” finds the 28-year-old in a particularly contemplative mood — ruminating on love, loss and letting go. Think of it as the world weary but still optimistic cousin of “A Thousand Years.”
As such, the video is a suitably somber affair. It finds Christina hovering around Once Upon A Time actor Colin O’Donoghue as he tends to his orchids, chops wood and takes a bath. At first I thought she was the ghost of his ex-girlfriend — it’s clear that he can’t see her — but then (*spoiler alert*) they finally meet in person and hit it off. Perhaps, it’s just a visual representation of the journey soul mates make to find each other? Watch up top. More »
After avoiding social media for most of 2014, Selena Gomez is making up for lost time. The 22-year-old went on a posting spree over the weekend (by her standards, at least) — dropping multiple hints about Zedd‘s new single “I Want You To Know.” The German DJ revealed the title last week, but his rumored love interest dropped a bombshell on Saturday (January 24) when she all but confirmed her involvement by posting the hashtag #IWantYouToKnow on Twitter and Instagram.
That was enough to trigger an avalanche of tweets from frenzied Selenators, who promptly declared that the collaboration would save music/heal the world. While “I Want You To Know” may or may not live up to those expectations, it’s certain to ramp up the excitement for Sel’s first LP for Interscope Records. Since swapping labels December, the triple threat has been diligently recording songs between acting commitments. See the fan reaction to her Zedd feature after the jump. More »
Last year, Becky G was selected as one of the openers for Katy Perry‘s massively successful Prismatic World Tour — and she caught the experience on camera.
In a new mini docu-series on her YouTube channel (Behind the B), Becky is bringing us back to the moment when the tour touched down in Mexico. “The crowd is just so, so much louder than the United States,” she explains to us, alternating between Spanish and English to properly explain the love she’s feeling from the Latino community. “It’s nice because they’re receiving me…como soy familia,” she says, beaming with pride. Kid Cudi is earning points left and right from the LGBT community today.
The talented artist plays the part of a gay man in the upcoming film James White, a drama based on the life of a twenty-something played by Christopher Abbott dealing with personal turmoil that premiered over the weekend at the Sundance Film Festival. (Not only that, he also scored the film.)
In an interview with Billboard on the red carpet before the film’s premiere, the Satellite Flight rapper discussed his intention behind taking on the role, and what it meant in a larger sense than just the film: “I felt like I had a responsibility to present a different walk in life from that world.” Read on to see what else he had to say. Rihanna and Kanye West and Paul McCartney‘s (that’s the official billing) “FourFiveSeconds” had a blockbuster first day on pop radio. The star-studded collaboration, which arrived with no forewarning on Saturday (January 24), has already been played 1308 times for an audience impression of 11.226 million — making it the 35th most played song on the format. Expect the looming smash to climb much, much higher by the end of the week.
It’s a good sign for RiRi’s polarizing new single, which left much of the Navy ready to jump ship. The stripped-back duet — Sir. Paul accompanies Rihanna and Yeezy on piano — is a huge change of pace for the queen of club-bangers, but radio obviously loves it and the faithful are still prepared to hand over their coins. “FourFiveSeconds” is already number two on the iTunes download chart, blocked only by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars‘ enduring smash “Uptown Funk.” Welcome back. Well, aren’t we lucky! As a thank-you for helping her reaching 25 million followers on Instagram, Kim Kardashian has treated fans to a behind-the-scenes look at the Balmain campaign with husband Kanye West. The polaroid photos show a more toned-down side to the often glamorous couple, as Kim gets fitted by designer Olivier Rousting.
It is refreshing to see them so laidback, with Yeezy cracking a smile and the Keeping Up starlet poking fun at her curves — she captured a photo with “We were making it fit! #DamnSampleSize #BalmainArmy.”

Big Sean is gearing up for a major music takeover, as he is prepping for the release of his third studio album — Dark Day Paradise. He revealed the LP title via social media last night, and now he graces the February/March issue of Complex. Inside the issue, the Detroit native touches on various topics: his new record, goals of starting a record label, ex-girlfriend Naya Rivera and his new lady Ariana Grande.
The magazine states that “Sean feels his third album, about his recent highs and lows, is his most personal yet, but admits that he’s still trying to find his sound.” The rapper cites producer Key Wane as crucial for the record’s sound.
“We started as friends. I’d never done that. Usually you meet a girl and then start dating. We always saw each other in the studio, and we’d talk about songs we were working on,” Sean Don says about Grande. “It was cool to have a girl that I could talk to about my problems. I did that with her. It’s not some fake-ass, inauthentic shit when I say we were friends. This is something special and I appreciate every moment of it.” View the Complex cover in its entirety after the jump. More »
Sam Smith is having a rough start to 2015. The Brit broke up with boyfriend Jonathan Zeizel last week and was recently forced to hand over 12.5% of his “Stay With Me” royalties to Tom Petty due to “notable similarities” with the singer/songwriter’s 1989 single “I Won’t Back Down.” Oh, and he was also called “an ugly motherfucker” by Howard Stern over the weekend. “You know what I like about the guy?” the shock jock asked listeners. “He’s an ugly motherfucker. He’s fat, I love it.”
Instead of asking Lady Gaga for a ride in the Born Brave Bus (a safe place for victims of bullying), Sam decided to rise above it. “I can’t believe what I’ve just read,” he tweeted. That was followed by: “Ignore.” Today (January 26), the multiple Grammy nominee has carried on as usual — posting his usual mix of selfies and song lyrics on Instagram. He also shared a shirtless pic, perhaps to refute Stern’s unflattering assessment of his appearance. See the full pic and tweets after the jump. More »
Earlier this month, Adidas revealed that Pharrell, David Beckham, Damian Lillard and Rita Ora were the stars for their new Adidas Originals’ Superstar shoe design — thanks to this glittery, black + white commercial.
