Iggy Azalea’s ‘Reclassified’: Album Review

Iggy Azalea‘s didn’t get a fair shake from critics when The New Classic was released in April. Which was odd given the near universal praise her mixtapes and EP received. That makes the release of Reclassified — a reissue with six new tracks — as good an opportunity as any to acknowledge that the femcee’s debut is actually relentlessly enjoyable (“Fuck Love”, “New Bitch” and “Lady Patra” are everything) and celebrate how far she’s come in the last seven months without the assistance of the usual super-producers and songwriters-for-hire.

There isn’t a dud track on Reclassified. While -assisted lead single “Beg For It” occasionally veers a little close to breakthrough hit “Fancy”, the formula clearly still works. The Charli XCX-penned chorus soars and Iggy’s flow has never been more confident. All it needs is an epic video to become to rap diva’s fourth top 10 entry on the Billboard Hot 100. Of the other new cuts, “Heavy Crown” stands out as another future hit. Who knew Ellie Goulding‘s breathy vocals would sound just as amazing over trap beats or combine so effortlessly with the Aussie’s bars? More »

Sheryl Crow Wasn’t A Fan Of Jennifer Lopez’s Performance At The American Music Awards: “Less Pole Dancing Please”

Watch all the performances at the 2014 American Music Awards, from Taylor Swift to J.Lo!

Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea closed the American Music Awards last night (November 23) with a jaw-dropping performance of Diplo-produced club-banger “Booty”. It was generally praised as one of the best moments of an otherwise lackluster night but the sexy spectacle obviously didn’t sit well with Sheryl Crow. The veteran singer/songwriter jumped on Twitter to ask for: “More real singing, less pole dancing please.”

She was referring to the segment where J.Lo and Iggy twirled around a stripper pole in swimsuits/leotards. While I agree with Sheryl about the singing — the whole night was littered with underwhelming vocal performances — it seems odd that she would use her platform for misguided slut-shaming. Jennifer sang live while dancing around the stage like a woman possessed and still managed to look sexy, powerful and in control. She also deserves props for being only one of two women over 40 (the other being Mary J. Blige) considered relevant enough to perform at the AMAs. K. Michelle croons her 'Anybody' ballad. Watch!

It feels like every day, we’re treated to a new excerpt from the diary of K. Michelle.

Today, the talented Love & Hip Hop starlet-turned-R&B siren has unveiled the fourth track from her forthcoming studio album Anybody Wanna Buy A Heart, following the release of “Love ‘Em All,” “Maybe I Should Call” and “How Do You Know?”

The synth-filled electro-R&B jam sees the songstress slipping down beneath the surface, baring her soul and expressing her doubts. “Who’s gonna pick me up? Who’s gonna give a f–k? Oh, who’s gonna go the mile? Fly me to the clouds?” she cries. Like her past few releases off of Anybody, “Going Under” proves that K’s diving deeper lyrically and providing more depth production-wise on her highly anticipated follow-up.

Eminem & Sia’s “Guts Over Fear” Video: Watch The Inspirational Clip

No Pain, No Gain
Take a listen to the hometown-repping, 'Shady XV' collaboration track.

Eminem has released the video for his empowering anthem, “Guts Over Fear” featuring Sia. The Syndrome-directed clip is very cinematic, as it shows a motivated boxer who deals with heavy adversities: a pregnant girlfriend, eviction, many past-due bills and more. The controversial rapper performs the song throughout the video in a bare warehouse. The “Chandelier” diva doesn’t make an appearance, instead a blonde bob-wearing model Chantelle Brown-Young is shown.

Eminem’s Shady XV compilation album drops today (November 24). It features classic tracks like the popular “Lose Yourself,” 50 Cent‘s “In Da Club” and D12‘s “My Band.” More »
