It’s been a pretty insane week for “Hideaway” hit-maker Kiesza ever since her debut album, Sound Of A Woman, dropped on Tuesday: She’s performed on Good Morning America, Live With Kelly & Michael, had a lengthy chat with us about her LP and dropped the video for her latest single “No Enemiesz.” But that’s not all! Last night, she took her haunting cover of Haddaway‘s classic dance jam “What Is Love” to Conan.
Forgoing the dancers for a simple, stripped-down piano performance, Kiesza showcased a different side to her talent — the acoustic side! — belting her sorrowful rendition of the song. At times, the performance recalls Lady Gaga‘s earliest days, when she’d turn around from a high-energy performance of “Just Dance” and stun with a piano version of “Poker Face.” A versatile pop princess — that’s what we love to see (and hear)! Kiesza shows off her rock-hard dancer’s body in her video for “No Enemiesz,” the latest track from her debut album Sound Of A Woman. The flame-haired songstress takes notes from Janet Jackson‘s 1986 hit “The Pleasure Principle” visual, transforming an empty loft into her personal dance studio.
The video is all about choreography, where Kiesza dances alone in a mirror and with other members of her crew. But the most interesting parts occur when the singer strips off her clothes piece by piece. As each clothing item falls to the floor, it transforms into a live dancer — it’s a cool technique!
Sound of a Woman was released on October 21, and features songs like “Giant In My Heart,” “Losin’ My Mind” and “The Love.” More »
BBC Music celebrated their launch earlier this month with a pretty epic cover of The Beach Boys‘ classic — “God Only Knows.” The video features star players like One Direction, Paloma Faith, Chris Martin and a handful of others. Coincidentally enough, some of these musicians will be performing at television program’s first annual awards ceremony!
Along with Coldplay, Paloma Faith and 1D, music favorites like Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris and Clean Bandit plan to touch the stage. It will be broadcasted live on December 11 via BBC One, from London’s Earls Court. A panel of BBC Music experts and music journalists will chose the winners for best British and international artists of the year, while the public will vote for the best song of the year. More »
Countless teaser clips and photos have been leading up to today’s big moment for One Direction fans: the arrival of the music video for “Steal My Girl,” the lead single off the boy band’s upcoming LP Four. So was it all worth the wait? Let’s see what we have here…
Things kick off with the five guys on the desert-based set of the video shoot. (Looks like the much-filmed Vasquez Rocks, just outside of L.A., to us.) Then comes the startling arrival of the quirky “greatest artist of his generation,” played by Danny DeVito. He ominously informs the worried lads, “I’ve seen your work. Today we’re gonna take it to a new level.” Uh oh. More »

When we last left Fergie, she was throwing a massive rager on the streets with some of famous friends, including Kelly Osbourne, Sevyn Streeter and “My Hitta” rapper, YG. Evidently, YG wasn’t sticking around just to look pretty in the video — he served up an official remix of the track, which just made its way online.
The rapper’s assist on the throbbing, DJ Mustard-produced cut comes two-thirds in, as YG casually raps his way through a West Coast-inspired brag-a-thon: “High at the club, we party like I scored a touchdown, I pop a bottle and all the models wanna f–k now!” Everybody’s la la la in love. Calling all Sam Smith fans: you can now rejoice! The UK crooner has announced “Like I Can” as his new single off his critically-acclaimed debut LP, In The Lonely Hour. It is a mid-tempo that places the singer’s vocals at the forefront, with acoustic guitar licks and a stomping bass in the background production.
Smith is also gearing up for a North American arena tour, which begins on January 9 in Atlanta, GA. “Like I Can” follows major tunes like “Restart,” “I’m Not The Only One,” “Money On My Mind,” and his smash hit — “Stay With Me.” In The Lonely Hour was released in the United States in June 2014.

Popping Up is our recurring look at new artists making noise on the music landscape. Because, hey — Madonna and Britney were once unknown, too.
Over the past year, various musicians from the UK quickly made a name for themselves here in the states — including Sam Smith, Clean Bandit and Gorgon City. The latest to do so is Hollie Cook. She’s the daughter of Sex Pistols‘ Paul Cook and Jeni (formerly a backup singer for Culture Club), but she doesn’t let her parents’ big names get in the way of her budding career. Instead of drawing on punk influences or new wave as people may expect, she has gone the route of romantic lover’s rock and reggae.
The singer was a part of post-punk band The Slits for four years, until she decided to break out on her own with the self-titled debut album in 2011. Cook made some waves in her home country, but it was sophomore LP Twice (released in May 2014) that caught the eyes of fans in America — including us!

This year has been very good to Nicki Minaj: her inescapable “Anaconda” single is certified Platinum, she was blessed to share the stage with Beyonce for their “***Flawless” remix and she was spotted hanging out with the Queen of Pop herself — Madonna. Now the rapper is gearing up to host and perform at the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards.
A new promo clip for the ceremony has arrived, and it’s a glimpse into the future. Set one day after the EMAs, the video shows Minaj’s global domination. There are E-Minajs (emojis inspired by the rapper), her own late-night show, hamburgers shaped like her infamous bum and even money with her face on it!
Along with Minaj, Calvin Harris, Ariana Grande, Charli XCX, Ed Sheeran and Kiesza are all set to perform. The show will set to air on November 9, live from the SSE Hydro arena in Glasgow, Scotland. View the entire nominations list for the 2014 MTV EMAs here. More »
Taylor Swift is utterly inescapable at the moment, and her album 1989 isn’t even out yet. (Oh, it’s coming, Swifties — just hang tight.) Her latest spectacle for TV viewers came courtesy of last night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
As Swift is on the level of Those Who Can Shut Down Hollywood Blvd. For A Live Performance, she figured, oh, why the hell not. Decked out in a slinky black ensemble on a giant stage outside the El Capitan Theatre, Taylor belted out her recent chart-topper “Shake It Off,” as well as moody synth track “Out Of The Woods,” all with a little help from her band and a group of backup vocalists.
1989 is released on Monday (October 27). Anyone think it’ll be a hit? Probably not. Catch “Shake It Off” above, and “Out Of The Woods” below. More »
