Lea Michele‘s probably-natural segue from TV’s Glee to pop stardom begins with “Cannonball,” the lead single from her upcoming debut album Louder (out March 4, 2014). Sia penned the track, and as noted yesterday when the song’s preview surfaced, Lea’s vocal deliver here is pretty faithful to what we imagine the go-to Australian singer-songwriter herself sounded like on the original demo.
“Cannonball” is now available on iTunes, along with pre-orders for Louder, and you can hear the song in full below. More »
Ariana Grande is back with another Christmas song, this time taking on the Eartha Kitt classic “Santa Baby.” For the final entry in her holiday series, Grande brought in her (*checks notes*) Victorious co-star Liz Gillies for some help, resulting in a playful duet with plenty of breathy purrs. It’s pretty faithful to the original — a little more uptempo, with the loping bass line paired with a bouncier, modern beat.
The song appears on Grande’s Christmas Kisses EP, out December 17. Hear it below. More »

Ke$ha and Pitbull are already conquering clubs with their square dance-inducing party jam “Timber” as it nudges ever-closer to number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Expect their reign to last all winter with a killer new remix courtesy of Chicago-based DJ outfit Jump Smokers.
This mix is an absolute no-brainer. Give it a spin and watch the party spring to life in front of you. Jump Smokers up the BPM and add a suitably intense drop but the song’s infectious chorus and cheeky rapped verses remain intact. Take a listen to “Timber” on steroids after the jump. More »
Avicii‘s heartstring-pulling “Hey Brother” video could be the Swedish DJ’s most audacious clip yet. Unlike his blockbuster “Wake Me Up” and “You Make Me” visuals, this effort has a strong narrative — showing the impact of war on a pair of siblings.
The clip shows the boys growing up with nostalgic scenes of camping, barbecues and sleepovers before the idyllic picture is shattered by the older brother being sent to war. Their family tragedy packs an emotional punch and it’s great to see Avicii make an unexpected last minute cameo. Watch up top. More »
