Tony Bennett And Lady Gaga’s ‘Cheek To Cheek’ Barely Outsells Kenny Chesney, Tops Album Chart

The race for #1 on the Billboard 200 over the past week was a tight one, but in the end it was Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga who (barely) won it. The pair’s collaborative album of jazz duets, Cheek To Cheek, topped the main album chart after selling 131,000 copies, thus giving 88-year-old Bennett his second #1 LP (after 2011′s Duets II) and 28-year-old Gaga her third (following 2011′s Born This Way and 2013′s ARTPOP).

Just behind Cheek To Cheek is Kenny Chesney‘s 17th studio LP The Big Revival, at #2 (130,000). Giving both a run for their money was last week’s #1 album, Barbra Streisand‘s Partners, which slips to #3 after selling another 127,000 copies.

Rita Ora Gets Dark & Edgy On New Prince Collaboration: Listen To A Snippet

As part of the celebration for his new albums, his solo Art Official Age and 3RDEYEGIRL‘s PLECTRUMELECTRUM (which both dropped on September 30)Prince gave fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes look of the release party. Along with a tour of his Paisley Park studio and a 20-minute live set of new music, the rocker also previewed a new track with Rita Ora.

Before his concert, Prince asked Josh Welton (the co-producer of Art Official Age) to play the snippet featuring Ora. What came out of the speakers is a sound we typically don’t associate with the “I Will Never Let You Down” singer. Instead of her comfort zone of bubbly synths, the song reveals edgy vocals that are laid over a savage, electronic-based production fit for a rockstar. More »

Lana Del Rey To Be Covered By Supreme Diva Jessica Lange On ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’?

Who from the cast of American Horror Story has the chops to cover Lana Del Rey during upcoming season Freak Show? Why, the Supreme, of course, Jessica Lange…at least according to a hinting tweet posted by AHS show runner Ryan Murphy.

A fan of the show tweeted at Murphy last night, “I’ve been a loyal viewer but I am OUT on this one…between trailers and your comments, it is more than I can handle ” This prompted Murphy to respond with the following: “Tina, don’t be afraid! The clown is scary, true. But don’t you wanna see Jessica Lange sing a Lana Del Rey song?” More »

Cheryl Cole Is Unbothered On “I Don’t Care”: Listen To Her New Single

Cheryl Cole has zero phucks to give on her new single, “I Don’t Care” – the follow-up to her summer smash, “Crazy Stupid Love.” In contrast to her other songs like “Ghetto Baby,” there are no massive bass drops or an in-your-face dance theme – “I Don’t Care” is just a straight up Pop tune. In 2014′s haze of over-production, it’s actually quite refreshing!

The Girls Aloud solo star’s vocals shine as she nonchalantly tells the world, “It feels so fucking good to say, I swear that I don’t care!” It also has an ’80s carefree vibe to it, thanks to the breezy synths and pumping bass line. The track is the lead single from Cole’s upcoming fourth LP, tentatively titled Only Human.

‘The Voice’: Jonathan Wyndham Nails A Great Big World’s “Say Something,” Joins Team Adam Levine

Jonathan Wyndham The Voice Say Something Blind Auditions 2014 A Great Big World
Say Something...Minus Xtina

The novelty of pressing the buttons is officially over! Where as in night one of The Voice’s Blind Auditions Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton seemingly hit the red circle just for the physical thrill of the chair spin (who can blame them?), by Tuesday’s night four they were like, “Not worth the vertigo, bro.” Some strong singers were turned away, and some stronger ones were only approved by one or two coaches.

Don’t worry: in keeping with true Voice tradition, it was still mostly all compliments, and there were still a couple inexplicable four-chair turners. More »

Nova Rockafeller Raps About Being High (A Lot) On ‘PROBLEMCHILD’: Stream/Download Her Killer EP

It’s an interesting time to be a white female rapper. Iggy Azalea kicked down the door with summer smash “Fancy” but became an instant target in the hip-hop community. Canadian-born, Jamaica-raised femcee Nova Rockafella should face a much less hostile reaction. For starters, she’s been quietly building a following in Los Angeles for years and presents an edgier fusion of rap and EDM on her new EP.

A stop-gap measure to keep fans satisfied until her debut LP drops in early 2015, PROBLEMCHILD is a nice introduction to Nova’s snarky rhymes and sick beats. There’s a lot to love here including the femcee’s relatable DJ Nobody-produced stoner jam “Whole Bag”, fake British accent-showcasing “Lunch Special” and bad bitch anthem “Batman”. SHEON’s “Second Base” Video Has Something To Offend Everyone: Watch Her Sexy Church Romp

Her ARTPOP Could Mean Anything

I’ve seen a lot of demented music videos over the years but SHEON raises the bar by masturbating with a bible outside a church in her unforgettable “Second Base” visual. It’s a shame the song is so terrible because the Yugoslavia-born, Minnesota-raised diva delivers comedy gold with controversial antics that also include stripping in a confessional booth.

“Once I was old enough to make a decision for myself regarding my own spirituality, I realized how much I had been brain-washed by the church,” explains SHEON. “To me, the church is not about love, forgiveness, and redemption, but about control and fear.” Fair enough. But how does a cheesy Euro-dance anthem about making it to second base relate to those very serious issues? Watch up top if you desperately need a laugh. More »

Tinashe’s ‘Aquarius’: Stream The Full Album

Tinashe‘s much-anticipated Aquarius LP is now streaming a week ahead of its official October 7 release date. So, does it live up to the hype? If you like sexy, languid R&B with on-point production and vintage Janet Jackson-esque interludes, then the answer is a resounding yes. The talented 21-year-old carves out her own nice with a sound as fresh as it is comfortingly familiar.

So what are the highlights? Schoolboy Q-featuring stoner anthem “2 On” is still the ultimate ratchet party jam, while new A$AP Rocky-assisted single “Pretend” shows a softer, prettier side. When you throw sexy bedroom romp “Feels Like Vegas” into the mix along with previously unheard gems “Far Side Of The Moon”, “Bated Breath” and “Cold Sweat”, it’s hard to deny that Tinashe has well and truly delivered the goods.
