Tyga Disses Drake, Calls The Singer “Fake”: Morning Mix

Drama In The YMCMB Camp

Did You Hear?

:: Tyga graces Vibe magazine’s digital cover this month, and the California rapper sure has a lot to say! In the article, he talks about his recent breakup with Blac Chyna and working with Kanye West in the studio — but the highlight of the interview is Tyga dissing Young Money labelmate Drake. He states, “I don’t like Drake as a person. He’s just fake to me. I like his music; you know what I’m saying? I think his music is good, but we’re all different people. We were forced together and it was kinda’ like we were forcing relationships together.” Ouch. [VIBE]

:: Katy Perry will be turning 30 years old soon (on October 25 to be precise), and the singer had plans to ring in the new decade in a big way. She wanted to celebrate the big 3-0 in Egypt, but unfortunately the trip won’t be possible due to safety reasons. There is no word yet on what Perry will end up doing for her birthday. [Hollywood Reporter]

:: Kendrick Lamar‘s latest single, “i” will now be the theme song for the 2014-2015 NBA season. The song is uplifting and has a positive message, so maybe it will give the basketball players more motivation to perform well. [2 Dope Boyz]

:: Celebrities sure love using Twitter to stir up drama! After Amber Rose filed for divorce from husband Wiz Khalifa, the model seemed to be pretty happy without him. But the rapper tweeted her a happy birthday on Tuesday, and she responded with: “Thank u [sic] Sweetheart #StillLoveYouNoMatterWhat.” Rose then used a heart emoji to cap off the tweet. What could this all mean?! [Celebuzz]

:: Pharrell is definitely a jack of all trades! It has been announced that the entertainer will star in an upcoming film for Chanel’s Pre-Fall fashion show. He shot it in Paris last week, and it will be shown simultaneously with the presentation on December 2. [Complex]

Swedish Diva Ji Nilsson Implies That Gwen Stefani’s New Single “Baby Don’t Lie” Is A Rip-Off: See Her Tweets

Swedish diva Ji Nilsson had a distinct sense of deja vu when she first heard Gwen Stefani‘s new single “Baby Don’t Lie”. She felt the song ripped off her own 2014 single “Heartbreakfree” and jumped on Twitter to (very politely) express her surprise. “People all over the internet are saying @gwenstefani s Baby Don’t Lie sounds just like my previous single ‘Heartbreakfree’!” she tweeted.

The Scandinavian singer/producer also retweeted a supporter’s comment about imitation being the greatest form of flattery, before giving a longer explanation when Gwen’s fans started trolling her mentions. “I have not been sitting around waiting to say that a famous artist copied the production of my song,” Ji lamented. “Blogs started to write about it and people agreed so I listened to Baby Don’t Lie and yes, I agree that the production sounds alot like Heartbreakfree.”

She actually has a point. The production does sound very similar, which may or may not be a total coincidence. Ji should probably take that up with Ryan Tedder and Benny Blanco (who produced “Baby Don’t Lie”) but I sincerely doubt Gwen has ever heard the actually-rather-great “Heartbreakfree” in her life. Compare both songs after the jump and see the aggrieved pop star’s tweets. More »

Sister Christina Covers Madonna’s “Like A Virgin”, Preps US Album Release: Watch Her Video & See The Tracklist

Touched For The Very First Time

Sister Cristina, a 26-year-old Italian nun, became an overnight YouTube sensation when she performed Alicia Keys‘ ballad “No One” on The Voice Italy earlier this year. She went on to win the competition, generating enough interest along the way to land a US deal with Republic Records. The divine diva is now promoting debut album (due November 11) with a cover of Madonna‘s “Like A Virgin”.

My initial reaction to Sister Cristina’s unfortunate song choice was to bathe my ears out in holy water but she has her reasons. “I chose ‘Like A Virgin’ because I wanted it to bear witness to God’s power to move all things!” she said in a statement. “I see it as God’s touch, when he called me to a new life, giving me back the purity and dignity of being his Daughter and being Loved by Him.” Ok, sis. Chill. Her interpretation of Madonna’s classic is actually kind of sweet. Watch pop’s coolest nun in action up top and check out her snazzy album cover and tracklist after the jump. More »

RoccStar Is Working On Fergie’s New Album, Describes The Sound As ‘The Dutchess’ Meets Rihanna

You can add RoccStar to the list of hot producers working on Fergie‘s much-anticipated comeback album. (Mike WiLL Made It, DJ Mustard and Will.i.am are also involved). I asked him about the project during a recent interview and he couldn’t contain his excitement. “I did a couple tracks on there and I’m gonna do some more because I love Fergie.”

And what does the Black Eyed Peas frontwoman’s new LP sound like? “It’s The Dutchess mixed in with some Rihanna… it’s like an upgraded version of her. She has more edge, and I made sure she’s ahead of this current movement.” Leon Youngblood Jr. (his real name) produced the title track of Jennifer Lopez‘s A.K.A. and has several songs on Chris Brown‘s X. He also worked with Beyonce on two songs that didn’t appear on her game-changing visual album. More »

Milky Chance Turn Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” Into A Breezy Folk-Pop Anthem On SiriusXM: Watch

Never Hit So Hard In Love

Milky Chance is part of the new wave of European pop (think Tove Lo, Mr. Probz and Nico & Vinz) causing major damage on the Billboard Hot 100. The German duo’s hypnotic debut single “Stolen Dance” is hovering just outside the top 50 and is expected to climb a lot higher given mounting radio support. Their cover of Miley Cyrus“Wrecking Ball” should also win them some new fans.

Clemens Rehbein (vocalist) and Phillip Dausch (producer) aren’t the first indie-pop outfit to tackle Bangerz diva’s chart-topper. Haim, London Grammar and Angel Haze have all put their own spin on the song but Milky Chance really break the song down to basics and turn it into something unrecognizable. Watch the band perform the song on SiriusXM up top. More »

Rita Ora Debuts Diane Warren-Penned Power Ballad “Grateful”: Listen To The ‘Beyond The Lights’ Soundtrack Cut

The rollout of Rita Ora‘s sophomore album was derailed when ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris took back all the songs he wrote for it but the ensuing delay has given the “Black Widow” babe time to collaborate with some interesting people. Take her new single “Grateful”, which is the handiwork of legendary songwriter Diane Warren. The soaring power ballad shows the Brit in a completely new light.

“I’m grateful for the wrong one, made me appreciate the right one,” Rita sings in the Celine Dion-worthy chorus. “I’m grateful for the pain, for everything that made me brave.” It will be interesting to see if the song connects with fans of the 23-year-old’s urban/dance output but Diane is confident. “Rita Ora did an amazing vocal,” she says of the Beyond The Lights soundtrack cut. “I think it can be a career song for her.” Take a listen to the lighters-in-the-air anthem after the jump. Taylor Swift’s ’1989′ Tracklist Revealed: Read The Song Titles

Well, she did pretty damn well at keeping this one locked down, but the jig is up: With just five days to go, the tracklist for Taylor Swift‘s highly anticipated ’80′s-inspired pop record 1989, has made its way onto the Internet thanks to a stealthy fan/admirer who snapped a photo of the album’s back cover, which is now doing the rounds on Twitter.

Along with smash single “Shake It Off,” as well as promo tracks “Out Of The Woods” and “Welcome To New York,” and the intriguingly cute “Style” (teased in a Target commercial released this morning), the album also includes still unreleased cuts like “I Wish You Would,” “Blank Space” and “Bad Blood” — y’know, the one she wrote about Katy Perry. (Allegedly.)

Selena Gomez Stuns In New Pics From Her Sexy, Aris Jerome-Helmed Photo Shoot

Selena Gomez set Instagram on fire earlier this week when she posted pics from a photo shoot with Aris Jerome. The 22-year-old modeled a revealing, lace-up bodysuit in the sexy black-and-white images, which showcase her killer curves and growing confidence. Today (October 22), the photographer posted more snaps from his session with Sel and they are just as striking.

One new portrait finds the Stars Dance diva rocking tiny denim shorts and a purple tank top. In other pics, Selena wears the same eye-popping bodysuit. The general consensus is that the former teen queen has never looked better. It will be interesting to see if this is the first hint of what to expect from her new era at Interscope Records. See the sexy shoot after the jump. More »

Meghan Trainor‘s inescapably bubbly body image anthem “All About That Bass” is leading the way for a seventh week on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming Epic Records’ longest-leading #1 in the label’s history — and tying with Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX‘s 7-week “Fancy” run.
