It’s been a big year for Clean Bandit.
Coming off their recent success from their debut album New Eyes (which contains infectious summer jams such as “Rather Be” featuring Jess Glynne, and “Extraordinary” with Sharna Bass), the British electronic troupe is back with their third single “Come Over” — and a beautiful new video to match.
As seen in the videos for “Rather Be” and “Extraordinary,” the group has quite a fondness for the unique, and “Come Over” is certainly no exception.
Directed, produced and shot by Clean Bandit themselves, the clip bounces between Svalbard, a Norwegian island cluster in the Arctic Circle, and Marrakech, Morocco, two polar opposite locations that manage to somehow balance each other perfectly in the video. Clean Bandit’s cellist Grace Chatto, who looks a bit like Game Of Thrones‘ Daenerys Targaryen, rides Husky sleds in the middle of Norway while guest artist, British reggae singer Stylo G, dances atop a sand dune in the Sahara Desert and takes a stroll in the Medina. It’s a pretty mesmerizing video to say the least, with stunning visuals that compliment both Grace’s icy vocal qualities and Stylo’s summer vibes. Watch the video up top. More »
Swedish pop songbird Tove Lo first popped up on our radar with her unbelievably catchy “Habits” way back in April of ’13. And ever since then, she’s had us staying high all the time — from the debut of her explosive “Out Of Mind” all the way to her rock solid debut Truth Serum EP, released this past March.
Mercifully, Tove’s about to drop yet another (substance-inspired) single on us: “Not On Drugs,” the woozy, love-drunk anthem off of her Truth Serum EP. “Baby listen, please/I’m not on drugs, I’m not on drugs…I’m just in love!” she swoons across the stadium-sized, guitar-filled chorus.
“[It's] about the happy kind of love where you feel like there’s nothing that can get you higher than the person you’re with and have these feelings for,” she told MTV UK. Kesha would say, your love is her drug.
Listen to the pop gem up top, and let us know what you think of Tove’s latest single in the comments below. More »
Los Angeles-based singer Jenn Em is a 22 year old vocal dynamo who hails from Chevy Chase, Maryland and comes packing a voice that is as contemporary as it is full of old-school soul. Keeping in line with the “anything goes” state of pop in 2014, Jenn’s debut single “Jailkeeper” is a moody, somewhat bluesy pop number that almost defies genre. If there’s a space to be occupied somewhere between Ella Fitzgerald, Christina Aguilera and Lorde, Jenn Em just may have found it.
“At one particular moment, I had been [in L.A.] for four or five months, and it was this really dark point,” Em explains to Idolator. “It was the only time in my life I thought, maybe I ought to pack up my shit and go. I sat at my piano and wrote…it was almost like I blacked out. When I opened my eyes, I had finished the song. That was five years ago, and that’s ‘Jailkeeper’.” More »
:: Breathe a sigh of relief. Apparently, there were rumors swirling about that Drake hooked up with Kris Jenner after the ESPY Awards but it — not very surprisingly — turned out to be a load of crap. [Gossip Cop]
:: Ben Langmaid seems to be holding a grudge against former La Roux bandmate Elly Jackson. In true 2014 fashion, he shaded the redhead by favoriting and retweeting negative comments about her. Very mature. [NME]
:: You’re not alone if your opinion of country star Tim McGraw plummeted after he slapped a female fan for tugging at his jeans at a recent concert. He has tried to explain the situation away by calling it a “pure instinctive reaction”. That doesn’t quite cut it. [TMZ]
:: Taylor Swift has dated the vast majority of men in Hollywood but Zac Braff is not one of them. He clarified the situation in an interview, calling her a “sweet girl”. Expect a passive-aggressive song response from the country queen. [Just Jared]

Talk about an unlikely bedfellows. Selena Gomez has asked R&B veteran Siedah Garrett to write tracks for her new LP. The woman who co-wrote Michael Jackson‘s “Man In The Mirror” (and sang with the King Of Pop on “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You”) tweeted a picture with Sel and wrote: “Listening closely to [Selena] as she invites me to write new pop songs for her next album.”
What now? First of all, the 21-year-old is rumored to be putting out a greatest hits compilation later this year with three new tracks but they have already been recorded — so this must be for the follow-up to Stars Dance. Also, Siedah specializes in soulful ballads, which would represent a rather staggering change of pace for Selena. At least we know she’s still serious about music. See the tweet after the jump. More »
