From the gloomy alt-pop leanings of Say Lou Lou to the club-rattling beats of Havana Brown, Australia keeps churning out great pop music. Joining the ever-growing list of talented Aussies is new duo Max & Bianca. They release their perky debut single “Love Drunk” on December 13.
Brought together by mutual friends, the Sydney-based duo play their own instruments and aspire to make quality pop music with substance. That’s a lofty goal but does “Love Drunk” achieve it? From the brief preview, the answer is a resounding yes. Produced by DNA, the fizzy pop tune sounds like a more melodic Karmin — with sugary sweet vocals and a bold, sing-a-long chorus.
“It’s all about a couple being in love, but everything has gone wrong and they don’t how to deal with it — or if they even want to,” Max explains. Catchy and deep! What more do you need? Listen to a snippet of the song in the band’s colorful video after the jump. More »
Beyonce is currently taking part in a 22 day vegan challenge but her new diet has done nothing to diminish her flawless physique — as proved by recent updates to her Tumblr. The 32-year-old’s gravity-defying curves are on full display as she poses in bikini bottoms and a football jersey.
It’s a smoking hot look, although the addition of a giraffe beanie in some pics is an acquired taste! Bey is currently celebrating her 46 Grammy nomination for Jay Z collab ” Part II (On The Run)”, so we can overlook her choice of headgear. More pics after the jump. More »
Charli XCX started teasing her much-anticipated sophomore set with electro-pop gem “SuperLove” way back in September. Since then she’s released two videos for the track and a bunch of perky house remixes from top-notch DJs like British duo Wideboys.
Given her status as the new queen of cool, it’s interesting to hear what happens when unashamedly mainstream producers like Wideboys get their hands on Charli’s material. As it turns out, they smooth over some of the song’s more off-kilter moments, focus on the killer chorus and up the BPM. It turns out to be a winning formula. Listen after the jump. More »
CHVRCHES sure have been busy on the late-night circuit, haven’t they? A new show every night of the week! But that’s a good problem to have — it would be impossible to tire of the Glaswegian synthpop outfit.
At any rate, they stopped by Late Show With David Letterman last night to perform their Bones Of What You Believe track “We Sink,” and it was a typically jaunty little performance from the band, with Lauren Mayberry appearing more confident than ever. More »
There’s no nice way to say this. Britney Spears‘ most personal album is chart poison. With sales significantly lower than expected, Britney Jean will debut at number five on the Billboard Hot 200 with a very modest first-week haul of just 108,461 copies — making it the worst opening bow of the superstar’s career.
To put things into perspective, no Britney album has debuted lower than number two on the Billboard Hot 200 and even that only happened once (2007′s Blackout). It gets worse. Britney Jean also had the diva’s lowest first week sales tally, “beating” …Baby One More Time‘s 121,000 copies in 1999.
Can this era be salvaged? It would seem unlikely. The 32-year-old’s Las Vegas stint makes promotion harder — if she even agreed to do some — and the material just isn’t up to her usual standard. One alternative might be reissuing the album with new tracks, particularly if that Lady Gaga duet eventuates. More »
