Aretha Franklin’s Cover Of Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep” Gets A Wideboys Remix: Listen To The Dance Overhaul

Aretha Franklin‘s mash-up of Adele‘s “Rolling In The Deep” and Motown classic “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” went viral after the legendary soul singer performed it on the Late Show With David Letterman. Commentators didn’t have a lot of nice things to say about her performance or ensemble but I think it’s an unfathomably entertaining trainwreck that demands multiple viewings.

I feel the same way about the seemingly unnecessary remix package. There’s something so wrong about a soaring house remix of an Adele ballad performed by Aretha Franklin that just makes it more fun. Wideboys do the best job of turning the lead single from Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics into a furious floorfiller. Jeremih Taps Rick Ross For The Latest “Don’t Tell ‘Em” Remix: Listen

Jeremih is currently riding high on the Billboard Hot 100 with irresistible hook-up anthem “Don’t Tell ‘Em”. (It remains steady this week at number six). Produced by DJ Mustard, the catchy club banger is unavoidable at radio and has been soundtracking parties for months due to its sexy lyrics — it brought “Twitter pussy” to the mainstream — and arguably the catchiest hook of 2014.

The song has already received a Spanglish remix courtesy of Pitbull but the 27-year-old takes the song in an edgier direction by inviting Rick Ross to contribute a rap. Teflon Don, who recently lost an astonishing amount of weight, keeps it surprisingly clean — bragging about his swag instead. Thankfully, there’s also room for YG‘s verse because it makes the song. Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett Rehearse “Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered” At The Cirque Royal: Watch

Here’s a classy way to pass the time on your Friday afternoon. Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett have released some rehearsal footage from their Cirque Royal performance and it’s fascinating stuff. Mother Monster, who rocks a Cleopatra-evoking black bob and golden robe, belts out Cheek To Cheek international bonus track “Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered”, while her duet partner watches on.

The ARTPOP diva gives it her all in the mesmerizing solo performance, belting out the 1940s show tune in fine style. It’s surprising this was left off the US edition because it it really is lovely. (That probably had something to do with Rod Stewart and Cher covering it semi-recently on the rocker’s Great American Songbook 2 album).  If you haven’t had the chance to check out Gaga’s version yet, make sure to watch it up top. Leighton Meester Randomly Dropped A Surprisingly Good Album: Stream ‘Heartstrings’ In Full

Leighton Meester was a hot pop property for a minute in 2009. The actress was riding a wave of popularity thanks to her role on hit teen drama Gossip Girl and had a top 10 entry on the Billboard Hot 100 courtesy of a feature on Cobra Starship‘s “Good Girls Go Bad”. She got to work on her debut album for Universal Republic and released a couple of singles — most notably the Robin Thicke-assisted urban-pop jam “Somebody To Love” — but the project was never released.

Five years later, the 28-year-old is releasing her much-delayed LP without much fanfare. Fans expecting more of the club-friendly pop she first dabbled in will be surprised by the contemplative folk sound of Heartstrings. It’s gentle singer/songwriter fare that evokes images of small town America. There are a couple of dark twists, giving the album an occasional Lana Del Rey-type quality. Perhaps you’ve seen rumblings on Twitter, on the Internet or merely felt the vibrations coursing through the streets, but Taylor Swift‘s new album, 1989, may or may not have hit the web a little early.

To be fair, we’d already heard a bunch of new tunes leading up to the album’s eventual arrival, including her #1 smash “Shake It Off,” “Out Of The Woods” and “Welcome To New York,” as well as a hint of “Style.” But what else is there to look forward to? Let’s discuss. More »

Britney Spears Is Getting Her Own Holiday, As She Rightfully Deserves

It’s Britney (Day), bitch!

Incredibly, it’s already been just about a year since Brit Brit began her Las Vegas residency, Piece Of Me, and the reviews and sales numbers have been utterly stellar — so much so, that Planet Hollywood is now giving back to the living legend in the form of a new holiday.

On Wednesday, November 5, Las Vegas will be celebrating “Britney Day” at The LINQ Promenade, where Clark County Commission Chairman Steve Sisolak will “present Britney with an official proclamation, as well as the Key to the iconic Las Vegas Strip.” What will B do with that key? Likely indulge in her outrageous shopping spree for a bit with her BFFs, and then help herself into the Starbucks on the ground floor of Planet Hollywood for some delicious frappes. More »

Nick Jonas Plays ‘Guess The Bulge’, Comments On Liam Payne, Harry Styles & Justin Bieber’s Crotches: Watch

Detective Nick

Nick Jonas is nothing if not a good sport. The “Jealous” hitmaker, who almost broke the internet when his Mark Wahlberg-inspired Flaunt underwear shoot surfaced online, was asked to play ‘guess the bulge’ during a recent interview with Sugarscape and accepted the challenge. Footage of the heartthrob evaluating Justin Bieber‘s package (among others) is now here!

The first cab/crotch off the rank is Nick’s own and he recognizes it (thankfully). He has less luck with Liam Payne and Harry Styles but easily picks out Justin Bieber (“this looks ridiculous… only one person in the world can look that ridiculous”). He also notes that Zac Efron is wearing nude underwear and talks about showing his butt on Kingdom. Watch up top. More »

Kiesza Covers Haddaway’s “What Is Love” On ‘Conan’: Watch

Kiesza What Is Love
Baby, Don't Hurt Me

It’s been a pretty insane week for “Hideaway” hit-maker Kiesza ever since her debut album, Sound Of A Woman, dropped on Tuesday: She’s performed on Good Morning America, Live With Kelly & Michael, had a lengthy chat with us about her LP and dropped the video for her latest single “No Enemiesz.” But that’s not all! Last night, she took her haunting cover of Haddaway‘s classic dance jam “What Is Love” to Conan.

Forgoing the dancers for a simple, stripped-down piano performance, Kiesza showcased a different side to her talent — the acoustic side! — belting her sorrowful rendition of the song. At times, the performance recalls Lady Gaga‘s earliest days, when she’d turn around from a high-energy performance of “Just Dance” and stun with a piano version of “Poker Face.” A versatile pop princess — that’s what we love to see (and hear)! Check out Kiesza’s performance up top. More »
